Does anyone know what the GM p/n's are for the front strut bar for a 03 cav sedan? I have a base model so no FE3

. Thank you in advance for any and all help. i did look at the faq and search but i didnt find any p/n's for the FE3 specifically.
I thought the highest was FE2? Also the 03 cars didnt come with strut bars....only convertable J's had front strut bars...
hmm i thought the faq said there was....on second thought it might have been talking about the sway bars. do the FE2 bars fit 03+? i know i saw those p/n's, but will it fit with the computer?
I thought it was FE0, FE1, FE2....the FE2 bars should fit fine, but in 03 the FE2 bar increased from 22mm to 24mm. Now the Strut tower brace will fit, you just will need to modify the bracket for the computer.
Are you looking for the strut tower brace or the front sway bar? I ask because the strut tower brace was nto part of the FE2 package
I looked at the FAQ and the upgrade in 03 is FE3 so I take that back. Call a parts depot at a chevy dealer and ask for the part number.
Ack! Die mis-information, DIE!
There was FE0.... no front bar 95-97, small front bar 98-02. FE0 was not available in 03-05. This is the "base model" J-body car more often than not.
Then there's FE1... big front bar in 95, small front bar 96-02, big front bar 03-05. This is what you find on convertibles and mid-level cars. Maybe LS Sedans, I'm not sure. Never looked.
Last but not least, FE2.... really big front bar in 95 (I've been told.. I haven't measured it, but it does have a unique part number)... big bar 96-02, even bigger bar 03-05. This is the Z24 suspension code, also LS Sport in the USA.
I have never seen an FE3 on a J-car... even on the 03-05 cars. The size of the front bar DID change in 03, but there still was no FE3 on a J-car.
3rd Gen Js do not come with FE3. 1st and 2nd Gens did have the option.
er, I have never seen FE3 on a THIRD GEN... yeah, yeah, that's what I meant!
sweetness thx a bunch for clearing that up lenko.
so what i'm gathering is that i'm looking for an FE2 bar for a 03+ LS Sport? cool, time to go hunting...
i have an 01, and no front sway bar
FE0 = No Sway Bar. Lenko had that a little messed up, and the FAQ is down right wrong.
Front 95-02__03-05
FE0__ N/B___ DNE
FE1__ 18mm__ 19mm
FE2__ 22mm__ 24mm
Rear:
FE0 & FE1: Standard Axle
FE2: Torsion Beam w/ little metal bar welded in standard axle.
N/B=No Bar. DNE=Does not exist.
Ok, then I'm more confused than before. Here's the front bar part listings:
Active Ride Suspension (aka FE0) 98-02 22566683
Soft Ride Suspension (aka FE1) 95 22587443, 96-02 22566683, 03-05 22587443
Ride/Handling Suspension (aka FE2) 95 22639076, 96-02 22566681, 03-05 22697262
So perhaps there was an option code for the bar itself, aside from the FE0 code, on the 98-02 cars...... or there's an error on these parts sheets....
because thinking about it now... my parents 2000 didn't have a front bar either.
ive seen 03-05 base model cars with no front sway bar also
my 97 sedan and 00 sedan both have a 18mm front bar
^ Take a look at the RPO sheet under the spare tire cover in the trunk.
I've never seen an 03-05 with FE0 code and have been told it doesn't exist, but that doesn't mean it's true.
Lenko: That list looks messed up to me. I know in 95 they had a slightly different bar design, same size, just different bends and whatnot. Here's the list for FE1 and FE2 (FE0 doesn't have part numbers because there's no bar).
95 FE1 93425662 (One was Sedan, other for Coupe)
95 FE1 22587443 (I don't know which is which) 18mm
95 FE2 22639076 22mm
96-02 FE1 22566683 18mm
96-02 FE2 22566681 22mm
03-05 FE1 22587443 19mm
03-05 FE2 22697262 24mm
