im upgrading to kyb agx struts my question is is it bad to do agx struts and not do agx shocks until later?

shocks and struts are essentially the same thing. our cars have struts up front, and shocks in the rear. If you are getting AGX, just get the full set of four, 2 front and 2 rear and you are all set.

Actually, it's struts at all 4 corners....

I think the rear gets labeled a shock sometimes because of it lower mounting being like a shock. Nopi sell agx struts by fronts or rears also.
