Hi guys,
For any of you who have had both or sampled both, which would you prefer? Would there be much difference in ride quality between the two( with a normal, rather than insane drop)? My understanding is that the GC's may have a bit more ride height adjustment than the SS's, am i right? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Adam
what do you mean by insane drop? i wouldnt suggest anything lower than 2" on either struts. koni doesnt have a limit that you can drop it on but just says not to abuse the struts.
its really up to you on what you wanna spend. both are great setups. i personally would get the ss mainly for the pillow mounts
from what i understand tein give you more adjusting with damping and height were as GC and Koni will be set at a height and damping for you.
I ordered the tein SS cuz i know i will like the fact i can adjust the settings.
konis are adjustable settings. the yellows are external settings so you dont have to take them off the car to adjust. also the gc coils come in different spring rates so you can really get a nice ride from them if you get the right spring rate and matching struts
As far as handling goes, both can be tuned however you like so if you know what you want, you'll be able to get it with either.
The key difference to me is the front mounts you get with the Tein kit. That would be the deciding factor and I'd buy them for that.
I only wish they'd sell the mounts separately!
By insane drop, I meant lower than2". Obviously, any lower would only be for show wher I live ( Nova Scotia). I would probably use close to a 2" drop, maybe a hair more in the rear for ride height. Thanks.
2" would be fine but anything lower id be worried about because im not sure how those struts will handle anythin' lower
i have a hair under 3" drop on mine
the one good thing about ground control is depending on what you are doing ground control can come with what ever spring rates you want if you are really serious into something like AutoX.

I asked Jim at gravana about this because i was going to sell my GC and Koni yellows for the Tein set up and he told me the Konis were a better shock then the Teins... and that the over all set up i had was a higher quality... thats what i got any way....

Yeah, given the choice I'd buy the Tein Super Street kit. But I also have a GC and Koni install and wouldn't sell it to go to the Tein's. The only thing better about them is the mount. As far as springs and damping go, I'd say they're both excellent products.
yea im all the way down in the front with my gc/koni yellows.. rides stiff.. not bouncy.. 28,000 miles on new england roads an still gives a decent ride..

If you can't compress the springs, they won't bounce. heh.
I can't believe people actually ride like that.

I know what it feels like and it's not good.

You must be talking about the struts the springs are the same height and will have motion.
I have mine a little lower than 2' but my car rides still and where i live the road are not that bad so it is not an issue. Plus my does not drive that much. My car is a daily drive but guess what i just put on 150 miles going to and from work for 2.5 miles. Plus my Konis are set medium all the way around. I still have about about 1 to 1.5 left of drop on the front.
