I have a 05 ls sedan lowered on sportlines & tokicos.I have a humming sound up front on right side.I did a seach on the humming sound and it turns out it's a wheel bearing. My ? is should I replace both sides or just the one side and how much are they. Are there any good brands I should know about or they all the same.
Is it still under warranty? If so why not just have the dealer fix it.
If not:
Just do the one side. They run around $70 each.
Most brand are just the same as any other.
Thanx for the replay, yes it's still under warranty, but since I lowered it I don't know if I voided the warranty. How hard would it be to do it myself.ANYBODY
That doesn't void the warranty. The Newbie section has a good explination of what things get voided when you do mods to your car. The warrant on the struts and springs (and probably the mounts too) has been voided by replacing them. With that drop, you don't inheriently wear on anything else faster, so it doesn't void the warranty.
If they tell you otherwise, get the service manager in on it. If you still have problems, a call to the regional Rep fixes everyhing 99.9% of the time. It can be a pain on occasion, but your time their dime.
As far as difficulty. If you have access to an impact wrench, 28mm socket, T50* torques socket, 3/8" allen, and a good size hammer it's not too bad. Otherwise you're up a crick.
*I think it was T50, anyone else remember?
My Haynes manual say no. 55 Torx bit. Lemme guess, these bearings can't be repacked? I just bought my cav, and it's usually one of the first things I do when I buy a car is regrease the bearings.
