strut bar

This might be a dumb question but will a strut bar meant to fit an 03 cav ecotec fit a 97 cavalier. Reason I ask is that I have bought a few different ones for my Cavy and they never fit...hood won't close right. And the brands that I haven't tried are stupid expensive so I thought I might be able to save some cash. I know it prolly won't fit but can someone just verify this before i do something dumb hahaha. thanks guys

depends. . do you have the Cruise Control Module on your pass strut tower? you could probably manage by moving it a little, but GM has strut bar with a bracket if you want that. it only costs $60, and that including shipping, through GM Parts Direct.

Ok, well do you have the 03 strut bar, or are you planning on ordering it?

I still say get the one that came off the verts. you can go to a junkyard and get it, or like i said earlier you could get it from GMpartsdirect. Look for the PN in the FAQ. it will clear the throttle body since it was designed that way. it sorta crooked.

this is what it looks like, and you can bolt it into the firewall. i have it.

You could also get the Ractive set (front and rear) off Gravana

^^ yea i havent bolted it either but im guessing it would be better seeing how there would be less flex and all. it would make it even more solid

I have mine bolted to the firewall and it does help stiffen it more.

Is your 97 a 2.2/2200 OVH?

If so then I can understand the trouble.

But even so, all the bars from 95-05 are interchangeable.
