Hi guys. I need some JBO advice.
I have read the entire gravana coilover thread, as well as searched out whatever I could find about the Tien SS setup.
Heres what I have gathered (correct me if I'm wrong on any of these points):
Gravana
Pros: Highest amount of adjustability. Sold by a trusted JBO community member.
Cons: Inconsistent installation results which may or may not be due to user error.
Tien SS
Pros: Plug and Play. Optional electronic damping control.
Cons: 16 levels of adjustability compared to Gravanas 32. Havent heard anything really bad.
Ok maybe that wasnt too long a list, but thats why I'm posting. I need more info to help make my decision on this. Any help from guys that actually own either one of these is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the big + to the teins is the mounts , and the fronts are camber adjustable
the big + to gravana's are the seperate spring and height adjustment
ive riden in both , and like both
ive got gravanas in mine , and im very happy with them , and wouldnt sell them
tein SS with edfc... no questions asked

Tien SS all the way, I installed mine in 2 hours. Done.
Why do you need 32 points of adjustment when you cant even tell the difference between one setting increment on 16 intervals. ie 4-5 or 13-14 or 8-7 - meaning if I was at 5 and you switched it to 6 without telling me I'd never know, but if I was at 5 and you up't it to 8 I sure as hell would know. So why do you need 32 when 16 is high enough resolution in stiffness?
actually gravana only technically has 16. its just that it controls rebound and compression. Gravana install was not difficult . frankly i was displeasesed with the customer service of gravana. i would have loved to have edfc. If someone would give me what i paid for them i would sell them and get tein in a heartbeat. But as for the actual coilovers themselves, i love the ride and quality.
Honestly, with all due respect to Gravana, given the option I'd be all over the Tein SS setup.
All else being equal, it's the mounts that do it for me.
Tein SS. No questions. Why? Because their products have a flawless track record of reliability.
EDFC makes adjusting easier than ever and is a great investment if you like to autocross or go to the drag strip often.

Same here. As with the adjustable camber.
Getting those types of things for our cars can be a chare in itself.
EDFC is just icing for the lazy.

Hey Steve, I just ordered the Tein Super Street coils. I don't know if you want to wait till I get them so you can feel the ride before you buy. I wanted the rk prostreets but couldn't find them. So then it was either Tein or Gravana and after reading several posts on here I went with Tein. Maybe later I'll get the EDFC.
Sweet. If you need any help with the install or anything you know where to find me.

..actua;;y the Tiens also have 32 degrees of adjustability..you just cant do it by hand and need the EDFC to get those increments.
I have the Teins and installed mine and have helped install the Gravana's on someone elses car.
Not to Knock Gravana but Teins are "IT." I love them.
As far as rebound and compression adjustment if you really want to...You can easily send the Teins back to have them rebuilt to your specifications as well as getting softer or harder springs.
-Installation is easier
-plus you get the Camber adjustment as already stated.
-and a warranty from a company that has been there in the past and will be there in the future.
-Teins reputation is well earned.
Say it with me, "Its not what you know...It's what you can prove"
Sounds good. Actually I just found out about the 32 levels with the EDFC while browsing tiens site earlier today. Looks like I'll be going with them then. Thanks a lot for all the help.

what are the asking price for the TIEN setup these days? what are the favorite suspension retailers

SCO will price match Gravana's online prices. $1320 looks like the average going price. I personally paid less.
2.5" is the max the TIEN can go? is this true? what about the gravana?
any pictures of each at the lowest ride height? how comfortable is this ride quality when set at the lowest levels

I have a thread in Photos and Media with the Super Streets set at the factory setting. It's about a 2" drop I'd guess. The coils are set at halfway front and rear, another 1/2" and my tire will be kissing my fender over any good sized bump. It's comfortable to me and they are set at the stiffest setting.
I dont think theres even a comparison here, but there is a several hundred dollar price difference

there was a guy who posted pics of his car slammed on the gravana setup, you can go about as low as the car is gonna let you....as far as ride quality i forget what he said it was like, but if i remeber he liked the ride...
i couldn't find the pic tho, it was a silver ls sport, 2002
