Friday, January 27, 2006 11:03 AM
Ok when i lowered my car with goldlines and HPs the springs were loose on the strut when i got it all bolted up and the spring didnt seat till i put i on the car and took it off the lift. did i do something wrong or are all the kits for a j-body like that?

It wouldnt be any fun if it was easy.

the spring is gonna be loose when you jack the car up.

i hope you know the hps are only oem replacements and not meant to handle any drop

Ya i thought i had read everything there was to on my setup but some how i missed that and saw it after i was done. Another question i had was i have a squek from my suspention now its only when the car slighty bounces like a tiny bump or braking what could that be the rubbers bad or what?

It wouldnt be any fun if it was easy.

I am thinking its the strut mounts, mine does it too. That or maybe its just the goldlines because I have those as well.

Alright so the the 95-99 ones are better right? Any idea how much 4 of them would be? I will have to drill those for the koni's right? Thanks.

Yeah. Most prefer the 95-99 mounts. They'll run you almost $100 each for the front, and less than $25 for the rear. Those are retail prices.

Don't worry about it, the hp's will not need it to be done. Can anything happen with bad mounts or is it just a little nerve racking?

Koni Yellows are the only struts that need to be drilled out for. If you have access to a drill press and the right size drill big it's a piece of cake, otherwise it can be an unruley b*tch.

I thought you can get fronts for $40-60 bucks each at a auto parts store, not the stealership. Why do the damn dealership charge like $200 Each for the front???

Depends on where you get them from, what brand, and stuff like that. At Napa they cost $95 for the full front assembly (bearing plate, bearing, spring seat IIRC).

the warranty on hp's is upto 1.5" drops

Ya the warranty is to 1.5 and the goldlines are 1.75 so i thought i would be safe.

only thing is most people i have seen with goldlines, the springs settle and sag to well below the 1.75 rating, which means your struts wont last long...

as far as i know they are only oem replacements and not meant for a drop. if you can provide a link that says they are good up to a 1.5" drop i would appericate it. also even if they were warrantied up to a 1.5" drop and the goldlines are a 1.75" drop, its kinda pointless anyway since you wouldnt be able to get them replaced if they blow
