Help me figure this one out.

Ok my d-spec's are on the way and now I have to decide how I'm going to eliminate this

I want to get as much of that nasty wheel well as possible but I don't want to rub, it's pretty bad both front and back. Any ideas on a good set of springs? BTW I'm running 215/45/17's. Thanks for any help.

What's up with so many people running the wrong size tires? Should be 225/45/R17. Guess it's not that big a difference, but it's posted in the Tire FAQ.

Anyway, there's a huge list of springs in the Suspension FAQ. Pick your favorit based on what drop you're looking for. Be sure to read the whole thing, and not just skim through it (you'll be sorry later if you do).

Since you have d-specs (an excelent choice by the way) you can put just about any spring you want on them. Don't use any CEC. The most up-to-date list is here.

215/45/17 is fine for the tire. thats what i ran w/ my 17's. the only difference between the 215 and the 225 is the 225 is 10mm wider than the 215. both tires are the same height.

as for lowering, i suggest coils. get ground control and coils and you'll be good

there's a .2 inch difference, 1/5th of an inch.. THE WORLD WILL END......

nah its not that much of a difference ,but I'm always up for maximizing the amount of rubber I have in contact with the road at all time. even if it's only a 5% difference.

If your looking at spring is you want to go really low I'd reccomend sportlines. If you want a decent good looking drop I'd say H&R(what I'm running).

His registry says he has 215/40/17's.

That's a big part of the problem. The reason it looks like your tires are too small and don't fill the gap is because your tires are too small and don't fill the gap.

^ HA! Told you so!

Yeah I know, it's a small difference, but it is technically the wrong size. I'm a details person, so that sort of stuff bugs me.

So what size tire should I be running? I'm kind of upset right now because the guyz I ordered the wheels from said these were the size I needed to be running. Thanks for all your help guyz. BTW I ordered the sportlines.

You should be running either 215/45/17 or 225/45/17. 40 series tires are too short for 17" wheels on our cars.

If you want a lower profile tire, you need to get bigger wheels. You run 40 series tires on 18's for these cars.

215/45's or 225/45's.....you pick. 225 looks a little beefier.

Thanks, I guess I feel better about ordering the cheapest tires possible then.

I just put 225/45R17s on my car. The rims I have came with 245/45R17s, and they were way too big to fit (I knew they would be). I wouldn't underestimate the difference in getting the right size tire on there. Also have a slightly smaller tire will put you that much closer to the road, and limit how much you can drop the car without having the same scraping issue (might be centimeters, but sometimes that's the difference).
