DropZone shocks???
Monday, January 23, 2006 10:02 PM
I've heard good things about dropzone before. I was just wonderin if anyone has tried their shocks and or coilovers and if you have any info good or bad. I'm gettin a deal on the package but all I hear about on here are Eibachs with KYB's. Those are great but I'm not gonna be racing or anything, so keep that in consideration, this will just be for looks. I'm ridin on 215/40/17's with a full Drift Kit and I want some kinda drop before spring. Oh yeah, I'm not a car suspension guy if you can't tell, I've only done trucks before. Thanks in advance.

I appreciate that, thanks Jason. I was just wondering if anyone has personally tried these coilovers and/or struts before, I think they're both pretty much new. I know the springs aren't supposed to be the best, but I'd like to hear it from someone who's actually tried them not just read it somewhere.

Thanks...I did read it. I didn't mean to come across like that. Sorry if it sounded like I brushed it off. I was just looking for an actual account of someone's product usage I guess. But I trust you guys enough not to waste the money on them. I think I'm gonna go ahead and save up for air ride. I was just wanting somethin small before summertime. Thanks again guys.

I've got a buddy, who's not on the JBO so I can talk about him. He put a dropzone package on his Ford Escort. Bounced his was right into the ditch at 80mph. Totalled the car. So I might not have any person experience with them myself, but I know where his car is if you want to see it. :-)

Just wondering if you're going for performance or looks? Air ride isn't so much for performance as it is for looks. If you're going the performance route, steer clear, if not, they would be great.

Haha, that's okay I don't need to see the car. I'm goin for looks mostly, doubt I'll be racin much in a 2200. It's fast enough for me. If I ever do go turbo, I'll more than likely switch it up anyway. Thanks again guys.

not true. bags handle just a well as coils. ive had both and the cornering is pretty much the same

Even if it is not for performance you still want a decent ride. I would do Eibach Prokit and KYB AGX struts.

Thanks Mike. Last time I read a post about bags and coils I was told coils handle better. This was, ohh, early last year....

Re: DropZone shocks???

well coils technically do handle better but bags are just as good. i can do the same cornering w/ my bags as i could w/ my coils. theres even a wrx that rally's on bags, dont not if its in the wrc but i know there is a wrx out there that does it

Yeah bags to handle well! The only thing I see that lacks performance wise is going to be your added weight. But unless it is straight drag car bags are great!

Thanks again guys...I think I'm just gonna save up and go with bags. Nothin fancy, and it doesn't have to be quick. What's the best deals you've all come across? This should probably be a new forum but oh well. haha

bags arent cheap so dont go cheap w/ them. do not buy from aim. if your going to get bags be prepared to spend about 1800 on a good new kit

ES or ART. Don't cheap out with AIM.
Easy Street are cheaper, but good quality.
Air Ride Tech are much more expensive, higher quality, but general consensus says they're not worth the price. Many still get them though.

AIM are known for problems, blowout, bent struts, and a long list of general complaints. There may be a class action lawsuit pending, I know people were talking about it a few months ago, anybody know what happened with that idea?? In AIM's defense there are people around here who have had zero problems with them.

Someone is also selling an ES kit in the classifieds last I looked.

That's my problem, i trust cheap stuff too much. We put autozone firestone bags on my brothers s-10. They cost him like 40 bucks and you were only supposed to put 60ish pounds in em. We were pushin 200lbs, oops. But I'm definetly not goin cheap for my car, I'm lookin at the easy street kit...maybe. Gotta save up first.

Ok I read sll the posts here. I happen to have the drop Zone struts with Goldline springs and my car rides fine. Maybe i got lucky and got something good. None the less I have good luck with them. The way I see it is if they go to hell by summer I have had time to save up for good stuff. I bought them ouuta desperation. I need to replace my old ones that were to dangerous to be rollin around on. So I think they are alright. Not the best but serve thier purpose.

It was my brother's truck, not mine. But, you're right, I've seen and heard of too much crap goin wrong with cheap crap. I'd rather ride stock height, than get myself killed. I won't go cheap.
