your pics of the rear strut tower brace plz

just ordered this on ebay for like 50 bucks
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8019658718&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT
but when i went to install the it, i ran into a snag. i installed both the bar brackets first on the bar, didnt tighten the 2 bolts yet. mind you, installing a rear stb isnt hard, but i'll explain what i did in detail considering i dont have pics yet. as u can see on the ebay site theres 2 holes on the bracket. i boltsed them ont the bolts located on the car the ones closest to the center of the car and the ones furthest near the rear of the car, if im correct. now since they're bolted in, heres where i ran into a snag. the bar doesnt seem to be the right length to screw onto BOTH sides. if i screwed one end of the bar on the left bracket, on the other side the end of the bar barely touches the bracket! i was like WTF! i tried jacking the rears and suspend the rear tires to see if that'll help, and still no good! this type of install SHOULD only take no more than 15 min. so my questions are these, did i not do something right on the install, or did i get screwed from the ebay seller? plz let me know what actions i should do to correct this. thanks in advance

From earlier posts, peopled have said those rear bars are not long enough for our cars.
Something about they are long enough for Neons but not ours.

So you'll have to contact the ebay member.

this was what i wrote to the seller, xtrememotor4race:
"here's also a feedback background from other ppl who had bought the same product, not from you but the same model and product.
http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=3&i=101099&t=101099
Please, I urge you, from a buyer to a seller, please remedy and correct this type of problem professionally, before I must report this to eBay themselves. I again inform you, the product was shipped and recieved to me on the 12/15/2005, I am will within the 7 business day for an exchange for a product of which fits my vehicle, and none other. "
just in case anyone on here would buy from this seller in the future. you're all my witnesses lol back me up

ive used freedom designs , and rk sports rear brace

my freedom designs uses 2 holes similar to the 1 from ebay , and it sounds like you used the right holes

it uses the 2 closest to the center of the car , and on the 1 that is closest to the rear

have you tried screwing out the 2 adjustment points ?? just curious

but you should have twice the width of the thread diameter in the bar for strength

What do you mean by this? if you could show me(im more of the visual type) what you mean then i could better understand. i'll try to get some pics taken of what im being troubled with. but in the mean time if you have pics of what you are curious that'd help too.

Yeah same here,
Vibrant, Ractive, jbody.org custom as well.

I mean, it can only go on one way.

____/------------------\____
(link) bar (link)

The eye bolt portion/connection of the links should be facing each other when you have them on the strut towers.
As for the bar itself, just screw out the ends as far as possible. Leave like ONE thread.
If it still doesn't reach then yeah that's a problem.

"If it still doesn't reach then yeah that's a problem."
yea thats the problem, i made sure the allen bolts were loosen for easier flex, and the 2 areas of the brackets werent tightened down for adjustment, its just that the bar itself is short or the chrome bolt that has the hole btw for the allen bolt to go in between, the thread's just too short. the seler is being and ass and not responding, but when he does he keeps telling me im not installing it right ....i read and looked on the forums and online and it shouldnt be difficult at all. i just hope the seller lets me get a refund or sends me another one that actually fits. *crosses fingers

flex? flex of what? wtf are you talkin about...

just to clarify whats already been said...

the opposing threaded eyelets have to be out all the way... i just want to make sure you did this before saying the bar is too short

those eyelets are on opposing threads, so that when you do get it on, you can turn the bar to pull in or loosen out. If both threads went the same way, the bar would just shift from left to right and not tighten anything.

hope that helps...

if those eyelets on the end of the bar aren't threaded or are out all the way... I dunno what to tell you

^^^^^ that is what i was refering to

what i meant as 'flex' maybe bad choice of words, but merely loosen, i made sure that everything was bolted down, but not secured; thats what i meant by 'flex' now in regards, to the pic above, the thread screws that u have diagramed, are opposed. another thing is that only one side would be screwed onto the bar, yet the other side only merely touches the bar, thats it. if i even screw on only a thread on the one screw, it'd only barely, and i do mean barely touch the opposite side. so i think mastin is right, that the seller screwed me over and i gotta deal with it and do something.

Ok, this thread has gotten me worried.

I bought an E-bay rear brace because Vibrant seized production.

It is the one below, and I hope it is not one of the "too short" "wont work" braces.

I have been trying to get the car dropped off at the speed shop to get this stuff done, but thanks to all the bills, it has only now become possible. Then I read this thread, and now I am wondering if I will spend a bunch of money just to find out it does not fit.

Any input guys?

Any help is appreciated.
