My car has more body roll than a cruise ship and I don't like it. My friend managed to snag a front upper strut bar off eBay for his Civic for $10 and it greatly reduced body roll. But I can't find a strut bar so cheap for my car, so I thought... why not build it myself?
Think about it, it's not that hard: a stiff metal bar between two brackets bolted to the strut towers. Anyone ever built their own, or is it just a stupid idea?
YOu can, its not hard, i suggest do a rear strut bar too. and a Subframe brace.
If you do a search, you can find my DIY version near by.
Strut bars do no reduce body roll. Sway bars do. You can't make a sway bar yourself. You could make a strut bar yourself, but it would cost just as much as buying one on eBay.
I just did a quick search on ebay and found maybe 10-15 front and rear bars, all under $20. When its that cheap, its easier to buy. I could understand if no one made one, ever (such as my rear shock tower bar), then you would end up building one.
Or buy mine from the classifieds.
Carbon Fiber too.
Either way, those ebay bars should work.
Have fun,
