can KYB
GR2 handle a 1.4 drop
GR2s = Stock Replacements. So no, basically no drop.
up to 2" drop i think.. i got some brand new ones if u want i give u a deal
read the faqs. the gr-2s are only a stock replacement. people say that kyb has come out w/ gr-2s that are able to handle a 1.5" drop but i think they were mistaken them for the agx's

Yep what he said ... I have KYB AGX series and they are rated 1.5" drop they actually recommend Eibach Pro-kit's which I also have too.

The GR2s are warrantied for up to a 1.5" drop. They don't work well. Don't use them
The AGXs are warrantied for up to a 1.5" drop as well. They work well. Use them.
This is assuming you want to stick with KYB. Koni and Tokico D-Specs are also awsome struts. And there are many other options out there, read the Suspension FAQ.

Last time i e-mail KYB the GR2's were not warrantied on any drop. Why make AGX for up to 1.5 when there is the GR2's. GR2's from KYB as basically a stock replacement.

GR2s are warrantied. They will replace them if they blow. However, they will NOT bet able to control the spring in the first place.
That's why I say "basically no", they can take the beating*, but they will not deliver the dampening needed.
*They can take the beating better than stock struts, but will wear out faster than if you had stock springs on them. All struts wear out, no getting around that. Just a question of how long they will last, and if/how long they will do their job.
Just buy the AGX's and set them to the softest setting (1) and you will see what your ride would have been like on GR-2's. After doing that for a few days, bump the firmness up to like 3(front)/6(rear).
i been ridin the GR2/Sportline setup for awhile now, just a temp setup till i can grab some yellows. They arnt the worst ride in the world but i wouldnt suggest it.

see the thing is i called them and that statement of 1.5" applies to the AGX and not the other struts. When they say the product the should really say AGX it is just vague. They way you are interpeting it would meat all their struts are good to 1.5" which they are not.

There isn't much "interpeting" to be done. It's pretty cut and dry.
The Statement of Warranty:
Quote:
KYB America LLC warrants the listed quality-built products for the listed time period and/or mileage to the original retail purchaser against defect and wear-out when used on private passenger cars and light trucks under normal operating conditions. The warranty does not apply to shock absorbers which have been modified, improperly applied or installed, or installed on vehicles used in racing or for commercial applications. The warranty is void if the product is used on excessively lowered (over 1.5") vehicles or in an aftermarket coilover suspension system.
KYB's obligation under this warranty is limited to replacement of the defective shock absorber in accordance with this warranty. Cost of removal and installation are not included
And what it applies to:
Quote:
The quality-built products, time periods and/or mileage covered under this warranty are as follows:
* For as long as the original retail purchaser owns the vehicle on which the units were originally installed
* All KYB Gas-a-Just® and MonoMax® Performance Shock Absorbers
(including motorhome applications) – Lifetime
* All KYB GR-2® Gas Struts, Cartridges and Shocks – Lifetime
* AGX® Adjustable Gas Shocks and Struts and MonoMax Performance Shocks – Lifetime
If that's wrong they need to change their website, because that's legally binding in the US.
that is true but is also states.
"The warranty does not apply to shock absorbers which have been modified, improperly applied or installed, or installed on vehicles used in racing or for commercial applications"
I know that may not apply to all but it will to some.
The thing is you go to some websites that talk about suspension (those that know what they are talking about) they all also say GR2's are just OEM replacements.
KYB will need to change their website because yes that statement does warranty all items. Even thought when you talk to them they say otherwise.

I agree, Do not use GR2s on lowering springs, and they should change their website.

No offense but the same statement that make people think it is ok. If it has blown on H&R in less than six month and Sprint in 4 months. How is is going to last on 3" drop. Some people i know are riding around on blown struts and don't realize. If you go and take those struts off you may see they are blown. Some time people don't realize they blown till they are removed.
