I know when I had my kit I had the valves free once or twice (I was not running a water trap for a good 6 months)
Does anyone have this problem? I am thinking about getting a kit for the new ride but not 100% sure yet.
mine never froze and i ran mine all winter last winter. ive had one stick once but that was cuz their was crap in one of the valves but never froze
^ That is not the answer to my question! Both replies were about the valves stick but not freezing.
I know that in my previous set-up they froze (a hair dryer made em work!).
I am asking if anyone had them freeze or not
Do you guys ever drain your tanks when you park the car? I'm just curious. When I did Adam99Z24's custom trunk, his air tank had a drain plug, but no drain, so I put one on it when we re-installed it. You wouldn't even need a water trap if you just drained it every time you shut it off. You could even use a solenoid operated valve to do it.
I did not drain it alot. (The first time I drained it I had some like liquid - clay - rust in it, which made me get my water trap).
By the way, after seeing that I dont think I will ever buy a used air ride kit again!
you dont need to drain it everytime you get out. i drain mine about once a month. i have a water trap but it doesnt do anything. it catches a little bit of water
My setup had a small ball valve on the bottom of tank. Quick and easy way to dump the water. I did it like once a week.
Some people, ive heard, put some sort of antifreeze in the tank that is ment for semi trucks. The ones that use it say there stuff never freezes.
I am all that is man
uh yeah u need to empty it once a week, get some nasty stuff in there... uh as for freezing ya they might a lil, just warm ur car up with the heat and then lift er up, thats what i do, but my valves and tank are in back where the seats used to be so its all good.

That clay rust is the coating applied inside the tank. My kit was brand new and it had the same thing coming out. It dries and looks/feels like chalk.
When I ran air ride last year, the Easystreet kit, I had the valve freeze. I was not running water traps. It was -30 degrees celsius outside as well. The exit valve froze open and the air from all the bags + the tank emptied due to this pressure loss. I was sitting at a red light, with my car slammed. I popped the trunk, and instantly knew which valve let out all the air. It had a frozen coating on the metal, all frosted. Lighter to it for about 20 seconds, and i was good to go after the dual compressors filled everything up.
Fun stuff... man I am glad to be back on stock suspension this winter... lol.
I had a car starter, so usually, I would leave the rear seat down and blast the heat every morning. On cold days, it was not uncommon for my car to be started for 30 minutes. Screw the environment... i need my car to get to work.
