There's a big debate with Megan racing. Some circles say they're cheap and they suck, and others say they are pretty decent considering how inexpensive they are. Team Enjuku uses them in Formula D have said numerous times that they hold up quite well to the abuse and offer them what they need as far as handling is concerned.

It could just be that their applications for our cars are the problem, but I've really never really studied them enough.

i have them and for a while they were good on the stock struts but then they blow and the ride sucks and u are always hitting ur head on big dips but i recently got koni yellows and the ride is way better and they are holding up good but then again ive only had them on there for like a month. i would definately reccomend these if you can get them w ith koni yellows

That could very well be. All I know really is that the springs for J-Bodies suck. Some of the their other could be very good.

not sure but if they are not progressive spring and linear then they may have high spring rates. and would need something like Koni to go with them. Plus the springs are about a 2" drop so the lower you go the sitffer the are going to be.

linear...

their spring rates are in the range of ground controls actually.

thing is, most everyone who were saying locally "oh these are great, cool, ok on stock struts.."

are now searching for more upgraded struts....

really though, their company puts out some decent products, and part of that is simply because they are a knockoff company of many of the major manufaturers out there.

notice how close the camber plates look to tein? just different in color.

another set they have are the exact same design as JIC MAGIC coilovers http://meganracing.com/uploadImage/regular/damper%20kit%20IV%20500.jpg

from talking to alot of local drifters, and sponsored drivers in drift, megan turned out to be an imitator rather than initiator.

like said above, they make decent stuff for some cars, but other cars they just throw stuff together and hope it works. it reflects in their prices

Quote:

Megan Racing Performance Lowering Springs are constructed of SAE 9254 Cold Wounded Steel, one of the strongest materials available. The high tensile strength and phosphate powder coating delivers outstanding spring rates that are extremely durable and resist premature “sagging”.
The result is a spring that specifically offers racecar handling, yet maintains smooth and comfortable ride characteristics. Carefully matched springs rates provide exceptional handling, response, control and balance. These springs offer a generous drop to your car while remaining very “streetable” by having enough clearance to avoid bottoming-out; and the lowered center of gravity improves performance and increases stability, as well as enhancing the appearance of the vehicle. (Note: Spring rates and drop amount vary by different vehicle application and chassis load.)
Spec:

Color in ORANGE

- Lower 2" front and 1.9" rear

- Springs rate - 335 Front and 250 Rear

- MSRP: 169.95

- Current special selling price : 109.95

1) its the new fad in cheap suspension, make the spring rates extremely high with thicker coils (coilovers and springs) to keep cheaper quality metals from sagging.

overall, that makes the car wear struts quicker, especially stock, and also adds more weight, which most can overlook.

2) you will never find a racecar that handles great with the ride of a caddillac, and you wont find a car with the ride of a caddillac handle like a real racecar. handling and comfort will always be a give and take.

My friend has the Megan dampeners on his 04 Subaru and he loves them. I dont know about the springs but the dampeners are made in Taiwan by the same company that makes APEXi's dampeners and are identical to APEXi's except in price. I have there exhaust and gauges. The exhaust is nice and the gauges are allright.

Megan racing makes poor springs for the j-bodies. Look into a set of eibach instead.
Remember to change your struts when you do your springs.

I have them the ride is not that bad ( better then my old Firebird ) and for the price you
can't beat them. I've had them on since early summer with no issues at all. I'm sure
better ones are availible but my ride quality is no worse then when I was in Events car.
Thats not saying his sucks I'm only giveing a reference so a comparo can be made.
Events car has much higher quaility parts used for raceing but for me I don't need all of that so these are fine.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
