I need a lowering kit. I want it to be atleast 2". But i want the cheapest kit i can, while still retaining some lifetime/ride quality. By no means am i asking for some chopped springs? but newest whole kit that will lower me, for cheap. I would like to have it under 200 if anyone can make a recommendation it would be great. thanks in advance.

$200 will only get you some decent lowering springs. You wont be able to get new shocks. I would save up for shocks to. KYB AGXs are only like $350 and are good for a 1.5" drop. If you get just springs you will regreat it. Will ride likes poop. Just save up and do it right.

200 bucks isnt goin' to get you @!#$. if you wanna go just for looks and dont care if you blow your struts and break other misc. parts then by all means be cheap and get cheap coils

Ive been riding on JUST Goldlines for about 5 months now and the ride is GREAT on stock struts.

I drive it down some bad roads and its fine. THey are actualy a little to soft for what I like. But they are great for my daily drive to work.

I honestly dont know what some of you put your cars threw if you think you need espensive struts for drop springs. My stock rear struts even held up with air bags and are still working great for me now.

Coilovers.........yeah I would pay for the struts but not for these drop springs.

Comments like this simply make me question whether you have any idea of what the ride should feel like.

Wont AGX's and a Prokit be a good combo? Progressive springs with adjustable struts sounds like the plan right?

Yes, that is a very good combo. But not under $200 like this guy is asking for.

My Personal Experience please keep in mind I have a family sedan daily driver and too and from my kids school and daycare and work back and forth same day everyday you get the idea. I was riding on Stock Shocks & Struts with Eibach pro-kits for several months but back in august the ride quality started to get really harsh and infact in several areas here in the town I live when I go over ramps and hills the ride quality became really bouncy and harsh at times well my speculation I believe I must off bottom out my stock suspension so I purchase KYB AGX and I been really really happy with the results. I would really suggest to please save up your funds for both the lowering springs and aftermarket suspension setup you decide and consider what people here suggest we are all talking about experience don't cheap out because you will regret it later. Just offering my $0.02 cents

Yes my friend I know what the ride should feel like. Ive been in the game for a while now and have ridin on many of the setups out there for a J body. I recently have the chance to ride on some Tein Basics. I loved it. I could tell that they were better than what I have. But I also know that the ride I have now is good enough for daily driving. FOr racing? NO. But Im not into that. Im done with my car. It simply takes me to work and back. And the Goldline/stock struts I have on it do it with no problem at all. THey also do it while giving me a very comfy ride.

I will admit that when I rolled on coilovers and stock struts it was very dangerous and I would not recomend that to anyone.

But I know that many people on this site have loweing springs on stock struts with no issues. Many are simply to scared to say anything because people like you will come out and tell us how that we have no idea whats going on. WHen in fact our daily experiances on these setups tell us that they are fine.

If you dont want to ride on them that fine. No one is asking you to do so.

Now you may tell me that my setup will cause me to wreck because it dosnt handle the road as well as some Konis or whatever. If I ever loose control with the setup I have it will be due to the fact that I will eather be going to fast, have a tire blow out, or God knows what. Based on the way I drive, It will not be because of my struts.

I will say that I may buy some Tein Basics in the future. Not because of the ride. But because of adjustability. I dont like the height my car sits at right now with Goldlines.
And I know that coilovers on stock struts is a bad idea.

Seriously, I have heard good thinga about tenzo R drop springs and sprint drop springs. I wouldn't hesitate to run those on sotck struts if just driving around town or on the highway. You'll be fine. For coil-overs, some form of aftermarket shock/strut is necessary. Not for springs. I drove on dropzone springs (@!#$e) and stock stuff before I got my GC and they were fine, so sprint or tenzo should be nice.

Pro-kit or H&R's on AGX struts later one. thats a 1.4 or 1.6 drop if you want lower go with the Goldline, or Sportlines, if you do expect to go with the Tein (SP) for Koni struts to get any kind of durability / ride quality. skimping on the struts is just a bad idea. if you want a cheap ride buy the cheap stuff, if you want a quality ride a good product with a good reputation. check the FAQ to find out what meets your needs and price range. you don't have to spend a fortune to get a good ride, but you do need more than stock. stock suspension is the cheapest thing that GM could put on the car and still get it on the road.

AGX with H&R would be a nice combo, if you have the money for it. H&R springs are really high quality and are excellent on my friend's E30 M3. Go with them for springs.

Eh? Sprints are some of the lowest drop springs on the market. If you think there's going to be any sort of "ride comfort" on stock struts with sprints... you're mad.

^^ I agree with Lenko.

If you put after-market springs on, use after-market struts that are made for the drop.

I know I'm late but just have to say it...

When shopping for parts, you want to buy the cheapest priced quality parts NOT the cheapest quality parts. If you try and take the easy way out and spend little money on "no name" products, well...you'll get "no name" quality, plain old crap.

Suspension work is very important, it can make you love driving your car or hate driving your car just by the ride comfort alone. Do it right the first time and don't look back.

If you tell your parents to buy X part that you know is a good part and they don't want to, tell them to buy you something else and buy it yourself.

Good luck though with your Christmas gift

x2....regardless...people on this site are gonna do what they want . you mean to tell me that all these impatient people on this site can just purchase lowering springs and be patient enough to not put them on until they purchase struts?? im callin bull sh!t.......sorry dont believe it.

You could get a set of prokit or H&R springs for around $200. Then you would just need to save up some money for the struts.
