Does the Z24 cluster in a 90 Cav use a cable to drive the speedo? Or is it electronic? I believe in 91 when they redesigned the dash and put in the phase 2 cluster, it went to fully electronic. I know the digital cluster doesn't use the speedo cable.

I'm planning for a project and I'd like to not have to use the digital Z24 cluster. But the transmission I'm considering for the project never used a cable-driven sensor.

I have a 1990 cavalier z24 and I changed all of the lightbulbs in my instrument panel and let me tell you what a pain in the ass it was.. mine has the cable that spins the meter
