Ok, I am obviously new here. I am almost definitely buying a 94 Cavalier with the 2.2 and 5 speed. It is a coupe and only has 104,000 miles. Black with I think grey interior. New tires, water pump. For $600 and it runs great. I have found so far just electronics upgrades you know like aftermarket programmers and what not. I am looking for a header, high flow cat, and a good cat back(i might fab an aftercat exhaust if I cant find one i like enough). But what about air intakes? Performance Clutches? Turbo? I know you can make your own turbo set up but is there a bolt on available? I do not want to swap engines as that isn't really an option right now but if I were to do so I would go with the 3800 supercharged because I saw one on cardomain.com in a 94 and thought it would be sweet. I also know about ignition upgrades but any and all performance part help you can give me would be great. Thank you for the help.
turbo.. I doubt you'll do just because of the price ratio factor. you can get a few cheap mods ie: pacesetter header will help, you can also do a ostrige type of ecm which will eliminate speed limiter ect. and thier are type of bolt on turbo's but alot of modifcations goes into one. like i did. your best bet is to drop a 3400 or what now people are doing is a 3500 swap.
hope it helps

Go to
V6Z24.com and find the General FAQ in the General forum. All the links are there for the 2.2.
You aren't going to find any parts specific for a 94. The engine is the same from 92-97, so any
engine specific stuff will work. Turbo kits will need to have tubes rebent, etc, since the 3rd gens have a different unibody.
we have a speed limiter...
my 93 car red lines in final gear and then hits the limiter (for exceeding redline)... radar about 112 mph on my Cop buddy's radar on a closed course

It seems to depend on the year, calibration, and trans type. Our 93 VL never appeared to have a speed or rev limiter. At least I couldn't find it when I lived in Montana and had lots of miles of straight, flat, empty road to use when looking.

How about plastic bumpers, VL trim, and steelies hidden behind hubcaps? With turbo...
