93 Rs 2.2 engine frozen wont start for no reason

Hello all. I am having a major problem with my winter car. It is a 93 cavalier Rs 2.2L with the auto trany. WOO Hoo so my alternator died and I was driving down the highway. Lights all went dead when the battery died. I got the car to roll off the highway and then got it towed back to my apartment. I recharged the brand new batter and installed a new alternator and serpentine belt; I also gave it an oil change and resealed a leaky fuel injector.

That’s when I tried to start it and it won’t turn over. You can hear the starter try and you can see the belt turn a little but no go. I then decided to change the starter too in case it got damaged when the battery died but it is the same deal. I even tried to start in without a belt on so there would be any strain from the accessories drives and no luck.

Has anyone had this type of problem? Could the trany stuck in gear and locking the engine. The car rolls fine if you put it in neutral. It was also towed in park but the front tires are off the ground so I don’t know what would have screwed it up.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I really would like to get this car back on the road so I can take my good cavalier off for the winter. Thanks

Remove the spark plugs and see if it will turn over.

Are you SURE all the connections are "shiny" clean and tight, on the cables and the battery?

I would also, whilst the battery is disconnected remove the Negative battery cable where it connects to the chassis and/or engine block, clean up the cable ends and the surfaces it connects to on the chassis/block.

On some models this connection is under the battery tray.

I would suspect a bad connection rather than a component fault

i will go through the whole electrical system on saturday or sun if it rains and give a post on the results. i hope it is just something corroded and not a major problem. the engine ran perfect until that day and only has 111,111 miles on her

yes the engine ran perfect untill that day. h have since gone threw the electrical system and found a few frayed wires and replace a few with the same results. i have taken out the spark plugs and put some margins mystery oil in the cylinder to hopefully get some lubrication in there. well see tomorrow if it turns over
