engine miss 2.0
Monday, March 12, 2007 11:06 AM
My sunbird has had a miss the last 10K miles or so. It only does this at low low rpm under load 35mph t/c lockup. It is more like a bucking more than a miss. once the rpm is up it is ok. I checked the wires/ pcv/ vacuum leaks and such. I am getting tired of feathering the throttle until it gets up to speed. Any one else have this problem????? 92 w/2.0 auto

Also it seems to upshift very early at partial throttle.

I plugged the vacuum to the egr valve and no change. So now to check other things.

Do you have any codes? Is your ignition coil weak? Vacuum hose to the MAP sensor cracked? Have you tuned it up lately? How about ran injector cleaner through? With a little more info we may be able to help, and trust me, I help with troubleshooting engines over the phone 8 hours a day 5 days a week.they are diesel engines though...

I think Scotty's right with this one.

I don't own a 2.0 but from past reading on here, this is the most likely

The TCC thing would explain the weird shifting points, i know thats common with the 3.1 cars

the tcc lasted about 3 weeks and then boom so i unplugged it and ran it w no lock up no more problems

Check your spark plug gap, if your plugs are worn out, your ignition coils may have a hard time firing across such a large gap, i had this problem on my 91 2.2 cavalier.

In the future, this is probably the TPS (Throttle position sensor). You'd know for sure if you have a scan tool, when they go bad, the TPS percentage doesn't return to 0% when the throttle is released.
