Ok ive allways known im going turbo but recently i been thinking doind a DOHC swap and boltin a turbo on that. And sad to say i cant afford to het opel @!#$ so im gonna have to get daewoo stuff. i just gotta wait untill we move to tx......wating!!!!
Ok guys i need your imput..good or bad
DOHC-TURBO4DOOR.....comming soon to a street near YOU!!!!
The daewoo engine is an opel engine just like the lt3 is.
That i do know scotty. i just head that the opel heads are better than the woo heads.

If I were going to do it I would find a wrecked Daewoo, get the wiring harness and computer, engine, and any parts needed to make it run such as ignition parts, etc, use the forged pistons from a turbo engine, and also a forged crank and rods if you can get them. That would make a mean Sunbird.
I can get them scotty.....this is looking very promising!!!
Evil laughter
DOHC-TUR......ah im to tired
Let me know what you get going, and take lots of pics when you do. If you haven't been here
lt3.tk check it out. That site is all about the LT3 engine, and one guy there was even going to do a dohc swap.
All you need is a 2.0 DOHC motor from Daewoo Nubira (years 97-2002). They come with separate wiring and engine loom fusebox and ECM. You can also get 2.2 DOHC from Daewoo Leganza, but the wiring of that motor is rather integrated into the wiring of the rest of the car. Should you need a newer motor, look for Suzuki Forenza / Reno (same motor), or Chevy Optra/Optra 5.
This motor has been used for years in Opel/Vauxhall/Holden/Daewoo vehicles. The only weak point is the timing belt, which usually goes at around 70-80K miles causing bent valves and associated nightmares.
A variant of the above motor (same block/head - different conrod/pistons) is fitted in the Astra VXR, which makes 240hp out of the box, and its already being tuned to about 300 whp on stock internals.
You can buy T3 cast iron manifold from www.360dynamics.ca
Hope this helps.

Forgot to add....all motors are build in Australia/Brazil for all world markets. There is no such thing as "opel head is better than daewoo head". Its the very same cylinder head. The only exception is the early C20XE n/a motor, which mas available with either Cosworth head, or GM head. Performance figures were the same, but GM head had some pourosity issues in the first 2 years of production in 1990.

do you have forged internals? if not......kaboom.
Ok....JK if you would have read the past posts i am doing a DOHC swap. whyle i have the C20XE engine out im gonna be doing a full build up...FORGED!!!!!! internals idk what kind of turbo to use, and the old N/A LT2 engine is only gonna be used for.... getting the car to tx thats it. and in to my garage!

Actually, forged internals are not always required but this all depends from the boost level. Factory C20GET (2 liter turbo) does not come with steel rods nor forged pistons. Yet it can handle just over 20psi of boost with some prepping.
For the T20SED (2.0 DOHC 16V) to take about 12-15psi safely, following needs to be done:
- 2.3mm MLS gasket will bring the compression down to about 8.79:1 ratio (read here:
http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5086&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15)
- ceramic coat the pistons
- use ARP connectind rod bolts
- debeam, polish and shotpeen the rods
Finally, the bottom end MUST BE BALANCED. If you keep the stock RPM limit (6500), you will have a nice and reliable motor.

Thanks again evreybody for the support..it means alot to me.
GODDAMN NON EDIT BUTTON.... Evilangel i am planing to run maby 15psi of boost.

Actually the pistons are forged in it. They are also 8:1 compression ratio too. If the head will bolt on I would use the bottom end from the C20GET. I am not sure if the crank is the same since I have heard the Daewoo uses DIS instead of a distributor. If so the crank may use a reluctor ring for the crank sensor to tell it to fire. I would like to do that conversion if I could adapt the ignition system easily. Right now I run 13.5 psi and use a T28 turbocharger in mine.

Hmm...dont want to start the fight, however I was invoived in 3 C20GET rebuilds. None of the 3 motors had the forged pistons, just hyperutectics.
If you are planning on using the C20GET bottom end, a couple of things needs modifications:
- you "might" have to get the valve cut-outs done in the pistons
- GM-Opel motor does come with the gear ring for DIS, but it can be removed. I dont see an easy way to adapt from DIS to non-DIS setup, unless you import an older cylinder head from europe which did use distributor.
- 16V block has oil restrictor in the oil passage to the cylinder head...I dont remember seeing that in the C20GET block....
