well i finally got the new head on... bolted up..
so i fire up the engine.... fires right up...
and then... problems...
first of all she's idling now at 1500 RPMS... (about 500 above the usual 1000)...
there is a potent fuel smell coming out of the exhaust... (on further examination... the plug in cyl 2 also smelled like fuel)
i think i got the fuel situation taken care of, but now when it runs, it sounds like my valves are rattleing hardcore... i've adjusted the roller rockers 3 times but i cant quite figure out how to set the valve timing right..
any suggestions... i've already gone through vaccum lines... i know im firing on all cyls (so plugs/wires/coils are good)
i have the 2.2 ... and the head i just got back from the head shop after being built port and polished and presure tested...
Could you have put the intake man gasket on backwards? I did that once and it idled fast but I don't know about the fuel. If there is a lot of fuel on a spark plug when you take it out, kind of hard to believe it was firing so if you have a spark tester you might want to check that
Have you checked the timimg?? My van did this when I put it 180 off, it shot flames out the pipes! That's where I'd start it could be causing the valve noise too. Later
