How do you get the starter out of the 2.0 OHC? Mine just went out as soon as I was about to get it's permanent registration. For the past few days it made a clicking noise before it went out then on the coldest day of the week It goes out. So do anyone have pics of how to get it out and where the bolts are located. I did the search but didn't find any of the given bolts. Maybe I just need pics of their location.

First take the battery cables loose, then remove the alternator. Take the cable and solenoid wire off of the starter (you remove those from the passenger side by reaching down through where you took out the alternator), then use a LONG extension to take the bolt at the bottom of the starte off (it's parallel to the starter). To find this bolt reach under the starter and feel for it. It is either a 13 or a 15 mm if I remember correctly. Then go to the drivers side and remove the bolt that holds the top of the starter on. You need to support the starter while doing this or the starter will drop down and the bolt will get really tight. You will probably need to use some kind of extension to do this as well. After this bolt is out you then go back to the passenger side, reach down behind the engine through where you removed the alternator and pull the starter out.

I have changed the starter on my car a few times, and it is a PITA. Have fun!

Do you necessarily have to take the alternator off? Or does it make reaching the starter much easier? Cuz I was under the car and all you heard was What the F***k!!!!! Plus it's 30 degrees outside so I want to be in and out as quickly as possible. Skinny fingers aren't good in the cold.

Removing the alternator makes it MUCH easier. Trust me on this.

If you don't mind could you take a pic of where the top bolt is. I found the one on the bottom but not on the top.. Thanks. I read it most ppl where saying that there's three bolts but I found one on the very bottom. Then a bolt on the back with a "L" shaped bracket. I still can't find the one on the top. Exactly where is it?
