from when i bought the car, I turn the fan up all the way but it still doesnt push much air through the vents. I did alright through the first winter with it, but it was a pain in the neck waiting for heat to actually do something. I need to fix it. There isnt any filter in the intake, so I'm figuring dust has clogged an internal filter or something. How the heck do I get rid of this problem?

Sounds like the heater core( firewall side) is plugged up with crap. Pull out the blower motor and with a flashlight, have a look down and you should see the heater core fins or lack of
I used my shop vac to get in there and clean it off. Pushes plenty of air now,

Hot or cold, air is air

yeah, its probably clogged up somewhere near the blower motor.
I had a nissan that a mouse made a nest in the fan and it blew no air when turned on.

I hate to bring this thread back from the dead, but I have a couple of questions.
My car is a 93 sunbird, and I am having the exact same problem. Not much air flows; it seems to be plugged.
When you say pull the blower motor, you mean from the hood side, right? Do you mean pull just the blower motor, or the air whole shroud off?
I tried removing the blower motor (disconnected 2 wires, a short vent hose, and some screws). I got the motor most of the way out, but it seems the power steering lines get in the way and prevent you from pulling it out completely. However, I did get it out far enough to shine a trouble light into it. However since the shroud makes a 90 degree turn anyway to where the heater core is, there is no way I could even get a shop vac down there.
Has anyone who has a '93ish sunbird fixed this problem themselves? What exactly has to happen to fix it.
Thanks alot everyone.

My had the same symptoms but was still blowing some air. I was also getting a noise from my blower motor. Well I decided to fix it one night and went and got a blower motor. I removed the Alt.{ V6} and then the blower motor. I looked down in the air duct and found leaves and pine straw covering the A/C EVAPORATOR core. BTW the heater core is under the dash far behind the fire wall. I removed most it with my hand and getting a few cuts in the process, the rest was removed using a flexible shop vac hose. The Sunbird and Cavalier should have the same HVAC shrouds. My blower was already bad so I replaced it, but while you have it out you could replace it as its not expensive, probly 40 buck at best. If you have anymore problems feel free to ask for help.

I'll try removing the blower motor again the weekend. I have the 2 litre and it looked like the power steering stuff was in the way from pulling it out. I'll take a closer look and see what exactly has to be removed so I can get that out.
Thanks.
^^im going to be doing this to a 93 2.2 today/tommorow ill let you know if i had to remove anything, this cars blower motor makes some funny noises and doesnt blow to good, im taking teh blower motor out of my 91Z parts car and gonna clean what i can and see waht happens

Well, I finally got it fixed.
I took all the bolts from the heater duct out, except one at the very botom that I just loosened. (The bottom ones were hard to get, and I didn't remove that last one because if I got it out I didn't want to fight to get it back in.) I had to remove the power steering fluid tank to get at the top bolts.
After that, I was able to pull it back by about an inch or two. The AC was plugged up with black crap. I squirted some engine cleaner on it, and got in there with a small wire brush (about the size of a tooth brush) and was able to scrub all the crap free without bending any of the fins. Finally, I gave it a quick shot of water from the hose to rinse all the engine cleaner off of it, let it dry, then put it all back together. I am happy to report it works good as new.
