I doesn't require any more work than a 3400 swap (which is pretty simple). Besides the basic wiring changes, all thats needed is a new rear engine mount welded in. The link provided is the one I would direct you too also.

you also need the subframe out of a beretta or grand am that came with a quad.. there is a motor mount attached to it.
Best bet is to find a wrecked beretta with the quad and swap everything over.

I think it was a tranny mount that has to be welded in, theres a post on this somewere on this forum were I posted a how to on this swap that was given to me by a guy who has done the swap. I'd post it again but I dont have it on my comp anymore, just do a search, You'll find it.

If its not an HO, its not worth it IMO. The 2.3/2.4 has too many oil system problems to warrant a base engine swap. It is, however, very worth it if it is the HO. The power to weight ratio is better than a 3400, and the difficulty of the swap is the same. I guess its all about what you want and how much effort you want to put into it.

I wouldn't neccesarily say the difficulty is the same.. if you are starting with a v6 car putting in the 3400 is cake. the only wiring is the injector harness and moving some wire around in the loom.
If you do the quad 4 you have the harness to swap, ecm, transmission, axels, subframe, and the gauge cluster may never work right again.

If you are starting with a 4cylinder car then the swap would be the same.

if its a h.o or a w41 it would be worth it due to the weight ratio besides the oil issues its a great motor a buddy of mine know someone that has a twin turbo quad 4 they can take alot of abuse maybe you could look into building up to h.o. specs i know some parts are still available from gm and they arent that expensive also for more info look on http://www.quad4forums.com/

Oiling problem with teh 2.3? hahahahaha, please stop now. The 2.3 doesn't have 1 problem with oiling.

Btw, pezed, he doesn't need the subframe. 92+ 2.3had the same mount as the 2.4. Only the 87-91 2.3 had the front mount.

ok but then it may be best to go out and ind an 87-91 and get the subframe and mount, it would simplify the swap.

the 2.3 doesnt have oiling problems, however the HO is notorious for head gaskety failure.

a buddy of mine did the 2.3 ho swap. the car was pretty quick for the 3 hours it lasted til it soun a rod bearing

The swap is not difficult, you just need to find a donar GTZ.

The only "fabrication" required is removing the trans mount bracket off the unibody on the GTZ and welding it on the unibody of the 2nd gen.

Everything else bolts in, except the harness stuff which time consuming more than it is difficult. A membership to alldata.com or a GM service manual for GTZ is allot of help with the harness transfer.

I think SVC is on his second one now. I did one with his help via a few emails.

Go to the quad4forums and register. I'm not sure it will let in the tech write up forum otherwise.

I've posted a bunch of stuff there under screen name quadswap.
