after work, im driving to a gas station, and notice that my check gauges light was on, and the temp gauge was up above 260. so i get to the gas station and pop the hood. not much heat from the engine, so im thinking what the hell. so i open the resivoir to check the coolant. . .and i hear sucking sound, i backed away at that point (force of habit). at which time all my coolant come gushing out the resivoir.
now, 2 people told me 2 different things.
1. its a stuck thermostat. easy fix.
2. blown head gasket. hard fix, install new engine.
now there was no coolant coming out of the exhaust so, my guess would be that the thermo is stuck closed, correct?
any info you guys can give me would be very helpful. being as i need my car to be running my 10 am tomorrow so i can do my delivery job.
Those are similar symptoms to the cooling fan not running with the thermostat operating
correctly and no head gasket leaks--Was the cooling fan running?
I think removing the cap reduced the pressure so the coolant boiled more easily

yea, the fan was running.
OK so the cheapest and fastest route would be change the thermostat.
When my head gasket leaked on my '93 2.2 Cav it lost coolant from the front right hand side(looking at the engine) and it seems to leak out of the engine initially, before doing more drastic things. I renewed my gasket after a weeks driving, would have done it sooner if I had the option.
If you have no coolant leaking at all it pretty much indicates a stuck thermostat I think-and it's a cheap fix!
Good Luck

Its the thermostat. i know when a head-g is toast.

well, ladies and gentlemen, my head gasket is fried.
i replaced the thermo today, and that helped for the first part of the day, but now, its, well, to put it nicely, its @!#$.
fixing it this weekend along with any body damage i may cause it in the next day. (ive got anger issues, thats how the windshield got broke)
well its not too hard on a 2.0.
just a mexican pack job.
Damn. i had to fix a head on my buddys corsica*2.8. we just pulled the engine right out.
