What a freaking nightmare... Anyone had this b4?

Okai... so im driving home... doin about 80 on the interstate... all of the sudden my car makes a mad rumbling... not even 2 seconds later im watching my rim fly next to me and down the interstate... and then the sparks start flying...

My buddy was behind me and went after my rim which finally stopped about 1/2 mile down the road... i also found my wheel spacer in front of my car...

The police did their "investigation" and found that my lugs were over torqued and that it snapped all the wheel studs off... the last people who messed with that rim was Merchants tire (Tire Kingdom) when they replaced the physical tire...

Now remarkably... there was no damage to the side skirt or front bumper... despite being dragged...

however the rotor is shot and possibly the hub assembly... im not the worlds best when it comes to suspension but what else should i be looking for to replace... (besides the brake pad)

damn that sux a few months ago going to a meet with my gf and another guy i was infront gf was behind me in her bird and my friend in his z behind her, i look back and they are stopped. My friends tire fell off his front as well, the damn rotor was sooooooooo hot it was steaming 40 mins later, it was like the lugs melted off the studs i had to chisel the threads clean with a screw driver and vice grips to hit the screw driver lol.

The front suspension? You should take a look at the subframe, lower rad support, floor pan, control arm, strut, sway bar, strut tower, axle, bearing/hub, rotor, and caliper. If it hit the ground at 80mph, I can almost guarantee something is bent/twisted/tweaked/mangled.

Was the wheel spacer just a flat plate? Or was it one of those ones with the studs built in? The stock J wheel bearing really doesn't have long enough studs for wheel spacers, but longer ones are available (M12x1.5x whatever length).

i have m12x.1.5x (longer studs) (and it was a bitch finding 5 more... each advance auto wanted to have just 1 in stock)... but ya it is a flat spacer...

On further inspection today... the car landed on the rotor... and dragged about 1/10th mile if that... i came to a stop pretty quick...

The only damage was to the rotor... the car was sitting on the rotor, side skirt, and front bumper... the rest of the suspension never hit the ground... im not lowered in anyway shape or form, and the other three wheels are 17s...

i got the new one on and put the car through a lil hell to see how it handled... all seems well... i made sure all my other lugs are sitting at 100 ft lbs now

Those wheel spacers are really for show, not safe to drive with. You are lucky you didnt get hurt. It will probably happen again.
