90 cavy problems

hey guys,

i have a 90 cavy with the 4 cylinder engine, and i have a hole in my exhaust loud as hell. put the problem is that every now and then the car will just shut off let it rest for a little bit and it will start back up but it will stutter then shut down. its an automatic. what do you think the problem is???

poss a ign controle module they are affected by heat so when the car warms up or its hot out they act up when they are going bad

especial if your leak is in or near the engine bay, the exhaust will heat it up in no time!! There is a rubbery substance (cant think of what its called right now) and when it heats up and its old the stuff starts moving and the parts inside my bumb and ground each other out. I used to have that problem all the time in my Olds Calais!!

so then what is the fix for that, cuz that sounds exactly like what is happening???
