ok theres been some talk about the 1.8 turbo not having forged pistons. If this is true you should be able to turbo a NA. Is this true

you can turbo almost any vehicle.......Its just more risky in a non forged motor.

You could turbo a NA car lots of turbo motors dont have forged pistons, they just dont handle extreme boost, the only problem is the compression ratio isnt to boost friendly, but some turbo cars have high compression ratios, but its not to good for it and it wont take to much boost. Look at the turbo 3.1 in the grand prix, they have 8.9:1 compression ratio which is the same as the NA 3.1, I dont know much about the 3.1's but I think the internals are the same fro the NA and turbo motor.
It can always be done, just dont count on it being to reliable.

there is huge debate ove the 3.1l regarding pistons, cam, ect.. what i have read is that the 3.1l turbo is pretty much a stock 3.1l with a turbo, and i beieve that it has different head gaskets.

as for turboing an N/A 2.0l ohc, id get a complete turbo motor. the compression is higher on the na motor, as well as it doesnt have all the forged stuff to make it last. for the extra cash, buy a running 2.0l turbo and stick it in. its a proven thing

like stated above^^^ buy a complete 2.0 turbo engine and install it. do not try to turbo a n/a 2.0 wouldn't last a week. and yes 3.1 and 3.1 turbo have same guts, pistons rods etc etc only diff is the turbo of course

People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......

ok I got some forged pistons from 89 grand am turbo had my block bored for them to fit
so after I get it all together I should be able to turbo it with no problem. Right?

im not the 2.0l expert, but doesnt the turbo motor use a different head???

The forged pistons are dished to lower the compression, head is the same.

3.1 turbo had the same crank as the lumna APV ... forged.
