AC engagement help!!!!

Well, guys I have a 94 2 nd Gen and 2.2L.
Now AC has been giving me problems for a little whil and I wanted to post to see if anyone has had the same problem.

When I start the car it takes AC like 5-10 minutes after you turn it on to acctually ome on.
So you start the car and put the AC on and the fan WILL blow until it feels like engaging and you can hear it start up and then it will work until you turn it off.

Kinda like it doesn't wanna be there on demand but when IT feels like it.
I tried switches HI and LO and I am trying relays now, once I fill it up it has a slow leak.

It was a R12 system and my dad did accidentlly put R134 in it and then we started having that problem so I cleaned the orifice and it had bunch of metal dust in it and we filled it up and still the same story.
So it was not properly cleaned from the old freon and the new one was mixed with it that couldn't mees with it coming on and stuff could it??

Well if anyone can help me out I appreciate it.
I don't have it in MY car so I never knew THAT much about it.
Thanks

Usually when the two different types are mixed it locks the compresser up. I'd say you will probably have to replace the compressor.

Usually when you find metal shavings in your system, depending on how severe, it means your compressor is dead.
