Ok I know this should be in the Audio - Electronis section but the people in this section tend to be a lot smarter when it comes to vehical specific things.

I need to run a power wire for a 1600 watt amp from my battery to my trunk and have no Idea where to route it past the firewall. I don't wan't to drill but will probably have to.

Anyone with a 2nd gen have subwoofers.....where's the best place to run the wire...

Any help will be appreiciated, I'm supposed to pick up everything from Darkstars this weekend. (his old system).

might sound stupid, but i ended up running my battery lines under the car.


anyway, that wasn't for an amp but for battery relocation. same idea, except one extra wire.
guess i might change that oddball routing at some point, but it's working great for now.

I guess you could route it under the carpet, On phase I's theres a rubber grommet w/ some wires already going through it around the top of the pedal arms

I recomend running it under the car and drill your hole in the trunk. Be sure to use a rubber gromit in the hole and an inline fuse. Having something shortout in the cab of your car is no fun and there are less things to catch fire under the car.

Some of them already have a hole there, some dont. My 89 did have a hole for the speedo cable to go through and it was big enough to fit a power wire through also. Once inside the cab i just ran the wire behind the trim pieces along the bottom of the doors and under the backseat right into the trunk. And you should always fuse the line right next to the battery so there is no risk of any fire.

btw on my 94 cav there was no hole so i just drilled one out, doesnt matter where really as long as you dont get it tangled up in your pedals or anything, and make sure you arent going to hit something on the otherside.

I did the same as pezed. otherwise, I reconmend not running it under the car and just routing it either under carpet or trim. if you know how remote trunk release cables are ran from the trunk, route it the same way.

well, i just ran mine in the grommet next to the pedalshad to cut it open, but it worked

I don't have have a grommit or a remote trunk realease....Running it under the car is just plain crazy..I ended up just running it behind the fender and through the lower a-arm into the car and under the trim to thae back..it;s working fine...thanx though

that's how I did it when I didn't know anything about audio. and it worked for a long long time, but it's best to run it thru the firewall. go ahead and drill a hole and plug it with a rubber gromet or something. it's safer that way and will ensure the wire to never ground out or fade in performance. I just used the remote trunk release as an example of running it under the trim and carpet. after two years of running my power wire like that it started to discolour and weaken in signal where the door closes. anyway, it works though. =)
