hey guys, the project is coming along pretty good. it's in my buddy's shop getting a piece welded on for the wheel well and quarter panel.. then it's pretty much ready for paint, and ready to get the 16" rims & tires on!
but anyways i was looking around on eBay and i came across this front strut tower bar..

what do you guys think of this? i realize eBay is kind of sketchy with some products, would this work or is it a waste of money? the Cavalier i have is only a 2.2L, but would i be better off trying to track one down that came out of a z24? i'd rather just buy one from eBay rather than call around everywhere... but would this eBay bar do the job?

I'd stay away from it just cause they dont have there facts strait, lol it says 94 sunfire 2.2 they never made sunfires under the pontiac name until 95 and pontiac J's never came with the 2.2 until 95 so the car there selling it for dosent exist.
Also if you get the Z24 one remember the bolt pattern for the strut tower changed in 92, so any 92+ strut tower brace wont fit your 91 sunbird, and the one in the auction is for a 94 so it wont fit your car anyways. So just keep an eye out for a 91or earlier Z24.
yeah the car i'm working on is a '94 Cavalier... my current car (91 sunbird) im just going to hold on to for the winters.. for the small price i'd get for it i'd rather hold onto it and maybe get a bit longer life outta the Cav
so would that bar fit on my '94 Cavalier or? sorry, i definately should have said which car i was considering this for! my bad..

Every bar sold on ebay is a copy of the RActive bar, which is made for the 92+ pattern. You can easily modify it to fit the pre 92 pattern by simply drilling new holes (you CANNOT do this with the factory bar though)
Any and all suspension parts from a Z will fit any 2.2 model Cav (with the exception of the front sway bar, it hits the downpipe) Everything fits perfect.
The price they're asking is way too high for that bar. I've seen it listed for less than $20 including shipping. You can pick up a factory bar (better quality and a guaranteed fit) for somewhere around $20-30 including shipping. I have 2-3 of them collecting dust if you want one.

That swaybar will bolt on with some work, just need to hack up and get a rebent downpipe. :p

yeah apparently they tell me (although its not a Z, just gonna look like one) that i will notice a difference in handling... it definately couldn't hurt right?
I seen another one listed on there, the bidding is up tomorrow... starting price was 0.99US but the title said 88-94 strut tower bar.. but down below in the description it said 95-__ something. so that sucked lol.
also what would you be asking for one of these James? i assume it's the factory one you have..
