My Goodbye to the beloved 2nd Gens
Saturday, March 26, 2005 12:56 PM
So, I must bid you all goodbye, its been fun. Not like many of you know who I am, oh well. Here's some pics to show the story...

There she is, my beloved Cavvy.[IMG]

As you can tell, she'd fallen on hard times. Her rear suspension is officially rusted through and no longer safe to drive...but wait...WHAT COULD THAT BE???

Yeah..that's right, I've moved up in the world

Hey, at least I'm keeping it in the J-bodies, eh? Take care, guys. If you want parts, let me know.

Yeah, wraith, I'm selling her. $400 and she's yours. Alas, she's an auto...and there's a damn good reason I refer to her as "dead."

Driver's side rear innder fender well

Passenger's side rear inner fender well

On the plus side, I had just sank $1900 into it. So you'll stop on a dime and pass emissions with flying colors. However, those potholes tend to drop the entire rear suspension, which is a problem

wow, i can honestly say that is the worst rust i have ever seen in a j body. you must be from somewere that gets a lot of snow in the winter and uses a lot of salt on the roads.

if it makes you feel better, the 3speed is nice and strong and the motor is still hauling ass.

I live in the St. Louis area on the Illinois side. There's 166,000 on the motor. Its old. I'll consider parting it out, but I'd much rather just sell it as a whole deal and have it out of my driveway. Then again, the $1900 in parts/labor/warranty that I just had put into kinda need to be recouped a little bit. So, if anyone in the St. Louis area wants it as a whole, please come get it. If after a few days I hear nothing, I'll part it out. But I REALLY don't want to ship things. But hell, I'll do whatever I have to in order to offset the 5k pricetag of that new car.

Well, its still bolted down on the other side. Beyond that...well...it kind moves left and right as well as up and down. Sounds cool in theory, VERY bad in practice.

Let us know if you wind up parting it out... Any idea how much you'd want for the dash?

Congrats on your new ride by the way... Though I don't like 3rd Gens

I think if I can't find someone to sell the whole thing to, my policy is going to be "come and get it and pay me what you think's fair."

There are a few pics on the V6 board of some rear rust and other rust and it is the worst I have ever seen in my entire life, even the entire front half of the floor was gone lol i'm sure some of you have seen that thread. Those pics above, although they are bad, can be repaired as you can still order the inner rear wheel house through GM.

Man, I should get an award for "worse rust anyone's ever seen." That'd rival any other award out there...WHAT NOW! Luckily, the new Z is rust free...that's the first thing I looked for.

if you begin to part it out, I may be interested in the tranny... you said it was in great condition right? So if you do it soon enough, let me know what you do and IF you do how much you'd sell it for and what shipping would run me from IL to TX (75755). Trunkz188@yahoo.com

sorry to see one bite the dust... especially due to rustolio, but at least I can say... at least you didn't get a prissy lookin "4th gen" (meaning anything 2001 and above).

I actually like the one you have, 99?

Okay...is anybody going to come steal the car or parts off it soon? Because if I don't hear from anyone in the next day or so the things just gonna get picked up by a junker whole. Come on, this things got stuff to offer and I'd rather see it go to some use with members of the .org instead of random people from the junkyard.
