Hi guys i bought this 86 about 4 months ago and havent had much time to spend on it sence iam rebuilding my 97z. but my question is , does any one know where to find parts for the 86 z24 hatchback with the 2.8l in it. I have looked all over on the internet and all that i can fin is 87newer and pre 85 but nothing on an 86, will the parts fit for the 87?(engine parts that is). I have read that the 87 has aluminum heads???Dont know a whole lot about the 80's. So if some of you guys could help that would be great. Oh ya here are some pics of the beast.

what exactly are you looking for motor wise? if you PM sharkey on here he has a built up ironhead 2.8 from his 86 cavalier...

Oh ya i forgot to add that i found it at a local junk yard for ?300. it needs a new gas tank and exhaust but the engine seems to turn over fine and everything works fine in the car....

Thee '86 Z had a one-year motor, a cast iron head, fuel injected V-6. If you want to swap to a newer motor (3.8, 3.1, 3100 or 3400), you are going to have to change a lot of parts! I know this as I have done this!

If you are interested, I have a set of port matched heads sitting on the shelf from the old motor I would let go for $50 plus shipping. They were rebuilt with all new valves, springs, retainers.
