ok I just bought an 87 sunbird gt with TBI Im planning on swaping it to MPFI and rebuilding it from the ground up with forged pistons and everything.Im going to strip the car and make it light as posssible and run it on a drag strip. The guy doing all my machine work told me that the engine will be bullet proof. I believe this guy because all he does is build race cars so I have no reason to doubt him. Any ways hes going to build my motor for cheap real cheap so hes going to find a cam that will work and all that good stuff and he guarantees me 400 hp and he says it could also run a 100 shot of nos but he alo says that if it didnt dyno 400 hp or blew up hed buy me any car I wanted. so whatcha think.any questions.
400hp, not possible with an 8 valve head, let alone n/a. a turbo motor is possible to hit 350hp, but thats about as much as the cyl head can support, it just cant flow enough air for anything more. if you run a 16 valve head, it may be possible.
if your gonna build a motor up for boost, just start out with a 2.0l turbo motor. it is a lot different and stronger.
thats what we are doing. boost and yes an 8 valve head he buils them all the time so he knows what hes talking about
ok well good luck with 400hp, but ats already been proven that the stock head, even ported to the max, cant flow enough air for more than 350hp
I'm curious where and by whom that was proven. I'd like to see the flow numbers too.
I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just saying I've never heard that anywhere before so I'd love to see any documentation on it.

head over to www.lt3engine.tk , thats the side dedicated to the 2.0 turbo.
No kiddin', I go there all the time but I don't recall the post you're quoting. I remember someone saying a few years back that some engine builder found that at the 350 hp level the cooling system couldn't keep up. The only head flow numbers I ever saw were the ones I posted a while ago. Am I missing something on there?
