I don't remember where, but someone on here was wondering how to tell if a Z24 was legit or not. It is easy to tell--look at the VIN. If the first five digits are 1G1JF then it is a Z24. If it is 1G1JE then it is an RS. IIRC they did make a handful of 1st gen Z24 'verts.

D Cavalier
E Cavalier Hatchback
1984+
C Cavalier
D Cavalier CS
E Cavalier Type-10, Cavalier RS
F Cavalier Z24
if its an e, its an rs, if its an f its a z24.

To my knowledge the only first gen Z24 convertibles they made were made as 'test mules' and didn't make it to full production. There was a red one that was featured in a magazine writeup, but that's the only one I've seen.
I can't get ASC to reply to any of my letters, emails, or phone calls so I can't confirm this. Bastids...
