Hi peoples,

I was wondering, What are the typical things that I should be watching out for in 1st generation Cavaliers when I go look at them for possible purchase?

look for rust in the bottom of the doors and quarter pannels. other than that, pretty typical things you would look for on any car (oil leaks, interior leaks, ect)

Not to mention the door seals along the windows on both sides see if the plastic and rubber that are at the top along the glass are sealed and not cracked or alloy water to get into the window channel and into the door on the inside. The weather strip is no longer made by gm or anyone that I know of and lots of need this due to wear and the seal being just shot, check for rust around the marker lights on the rear sides too.

Rocker panel rust. Look long and hard. This is one of the most common places for water to collect and rot out.
