Hey all,
My '86 2.0 is missing, what looks like two clips that hold down the air cleaner hose to the radiator support. I have no idea what they look like but they must be a clip that snaps into the small holes on the support. They are not threaded screws as they are on my 2.8 '85. I am also missing one screw for the 2.8 and have been looking for one.
Any one assist on what the 2.0 clips or snaps look like and , better yet, have any? I also need one screw for the 2.8 . Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Question do the threaded but with wingnuts look like what u need.I am thinking you need the 3 that it requires to fasten to the rad support on top.IF these are it IDK if I have extras but, assume these are it.If so I might look some more over the weekend or monday(work fri-sun).I doubt I have them but will double check.Just tell me,so I can narrow things down when I junkyard again.
Ron, thank you for your help. Unfortunately your items are not the one's I am looking for. I finally found the part no. for the '85 2.8. It is:
14081324. I will search for it. But the '86 2.0 must be a clip or snap of somekind to hold down the hose end to the radiator support. There are slots underneath for something to slip in and snap down but no holes for screws. Will keep plugging!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=isnHSdl-5UY&NR=1 The piece I am referring to is the flat, pancake shaped shroud that is at the end of the air intake hose attached at the radiator.
Jason, absolutely. Thank you. This helps a lot. How do you edit or delete posts? I can't seem to find where that is available to the author?
Can't edit posts unless you upgrade to premium. In Google Chrome if a certain picture is not saveable or doesn't have a link that ends in .jpg, .bmp etc you can right click on the pic and "inspect element" and it will show you the html code of the webpage, search for the pic link that ends in .jpg and then you can copy that link and go from there. hth
The are actually door
panel clips. And I think you can get new ones at Auto Zone.

Hello all, I am still looking for the correct air duct hold down screw for my 2.8L '85. I have attached the address of the site where there is a picture of it. I am missing one of the "T" screws at the end of the duct that attach it to the radiator support. Does anyone have one for sale? Thanks for your time.
I am also looking for a strut tower brace for it as well. One from a Z24 or a wagon? I think they were the same from '84 to '91? Your help on this is also greatly appreciated.
If they are not the ones that Ron has pictured, I can probably get you some as the junkyard near me has a few V6 Cavs. But if they are not, I am still unsure of what you need.
Is it these as on a 1986 Cimarron
John
John, yes, you have them circled. I have the butterfly nut that secures the air filter and one of the "T" screws that hold down the duct to the radiator support but I am missing one. If you know of a strut tower brace I would be grateful as well. Thanks for your help.

Well If I get some time to go junkyarding in the next couple of wks I will see what I can find if there are some .As for the strut bars front those are hit and miss bc some z models I came across did not have one idk why tho.I have one which is ready for my car just yet to install.I will let you know if I find the 2 items you when I have time to go junk looking.Next do you need a rear sway bar for the back end?Now that I have a extra of and the brackets and stuff.I will find my pics to show said item.
rear sway bar and will find the brackets pics I have to show next.
Ok here is the bracket required to use one metal at each wheel and two plastic A frame with metal band that attach to the axle itself. This will literally bolt right up in your existing axle the cut outs on the bottom of the axle arms have this in ALL the 1st gens it is a generic part minus the sway bar of course. So if your interested in a rear sway with all the parts uncleaned and you can bolt this up to yours if you do not have one already.Kinda tired after cleaning 3 cars today and yeah my new civic, wifes car and mother in laws car plus a oil change.Busy why yes I was.
Ron, thank you, however, my '85 is equipped with F41 suspension already. What I am looking for is a strut tower brace that bolts across in the engine bay on the three studs on top of the towers. They came with Z-24s and Wagons from my research. I am still getting a bit of shake, which I know is due to the structure of the convertible. I have one on my '86 and it helps a lot.
Thanks
Put me on the list if someone comes across one for the 84 Cavs. Second thought I need two, one for each car.
John
Here is the strut tower brace on my '86
I know the front strut bar you are describing and yeah I will keep that in mind to try and find some when junkyarding.I as stated have 1 but it is for sunny.I was hoping to go soon but,my work schedule changed this past wk so I work four days straight then three off.I may try to go next thurs depending on my to do list here at home.So I will do some searching and see.And the strut bars for our 1st gens is specific as you know but they fit up to the 91 models then changed to wider bracket over the towers for 92-94.
strut bar is the one in the middle the other two are second gen 92 -94.Figured seeing pic may be easier than a link.
those doors look so familiar...
