Wow - what a nice baseline for a project. That looks awesome. Can you check the interchange on the bumper ends? I think the Cimmaron I was picking from for Orlen still has them. It is an 85 so not sure on the interchange.

Thanks Paul,

All front bumper ends 1983 to 1985 will interchange and 1986 without the composite headlights. Composite headlights were an option on 1986 models (D'oro) and standard from 87-88. As for the rear all should fit. If you can find them let me know, it would tie it all together. Tonight I went to move the Cimarron and the inside door handle broke (must have snapped something on the pull bars) and then the windows would not go down and they worked perfectly yesterday......GRRR It IS a Cadillac!

Almost forgot, Thanks to Orlen for pointing out the differences in the bumper ends.

Ah the good fun of stuff breaking.I have lots of experiece on removing doors, cleaning doors, greasing tracks for electric windows, and yeah removing that pesky horseshoe clip that holds the handle to crank down.I have yet to find a big pallet yet john.I spent yesterday mowing only to have my drive belt freaking break almost done with yard.So today went to john deere got my 25.00 belt and then cracked a spacer for a small pulley at the pto.So in short went to lowes got two roll pins (bolt goes thru) cut both to size, slide one into the other to make a exact replica to reinstall so the mower will move NOW.Drama I know and I just restored the deck last wk new shafts, new paint, and eng tune.At least my echo weed eater tore it up!It has a long shaft being I am 6'2 bending over sucketh when doing two yards.Unrelated but I so want to get your doors sent last wk.Once I have the pallet, weigh it,get ship cost I can give u a total for all of cost involved to get them to you.Btw send me your address pm for where these doors really will go in case ship cost might vary, being I have your home address already.

I think his pass rear is OK.

He said something about his door handle breaking, not sure what happened there, maybe he'll pop on before you go and let you know if he needs something there. I think you mentioned yours at the yard has his color interior.

Hi Guys,

I need both front (L and R) and drivers side rear (L) bumper ends. I have not had a chance to pull apart the door to see what I need there but, the donor blue sedan I have most likely has what I need. It is probably one of the plastic clips that the interior handle connects to. Any help locating the bumper ends would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - I was missing the shot of the passenger front somehow. I will look for front bumper caps - both sides, and rear driver side.

Any tips for taking them off the donor car? My Sunbird does not have these so this is new for me...

Looks like 10mm bolts hold it in with plastic pins as best I can tell from what is left of the originals.

Pins that go through the holes in the rear bumper.

Inside front bumper.

Top of front bumper.

Bottom of front bumper.

I also need rub strips if anyone comes across a Cimarron in the Bone Yards.

Re: Cleaned Up The Cimarron

Went to my regular bone yard today. Only thing I got today was my ass chewed. Damn owner went plum crazy over a stupid steering wheel I'd pulled something like a month ago. Raked me deep sayin' I had to buy a complete steering column if I wanted to buy a steering wheel, and it might cost me upwards of up to $100.00 for a column & wheel!! ( He sells me the columns &wheels for usually for $35?)So, I just came on back home, got the darn thing, took it back and put it back where I got it from. Walked back up to the man and simply told him to get this mess over with....finish this mess and go ahead and finish this ass chewing. He chickened up at that point, didn't want to say anything more - so I left.
I guess the sort end of the story is I don't think I'm going to be getting anything much there for myself or anyone else. Must be nice to not need the business!! I'm a regular there.....or at least I was

Guess I'll tolerate him long enough to get the few things I really need - and go somewhere else.
It is ridiculous having folks like this out there - how on earth they keep the gates open is anyone's guess....

sort of sounds like this one local junkyard owner here, you catch him on a bad day he'll rip you a few new holes for no reason, he's a nice guy otherwise though.

John-

Bad news from MI... I went back to the yard yesterday and the Cimmarron was gone . No parts for my green Voyager either .

Sorry, I wish I could say April Fools, but not in this case.

Thanks for effort. They just do not keep that old stuff around too long plus how many people are looking for Cimarron parts?

I am sure this is a forecast of things to come, but not a single first gen in the yard either...

i'm looking for the same parts for my 82 cimarron. though i have come to this conclusion that may help you out. the corners are just the base model cav bumper cover cut off and bolted onto the ends of that stock cav bumper that is chromed. That's the case with my 82. apart from those 2 guide/holding pins. i have an old crap bumper that i;m going to try to use and see if it works. i wouldn't hold my breath though. i live 2 hours away from my parts and don't have anywhere to work on them.

The White stripe position and black molding are different than my 84 Cav bumper. I thought I would do the same as I have a spare bumper from an 84. I did find a rear bumper end for the drivers side (slight crack). I also got the front passenger side from an 87 Cim and knowing my 86 is different, I figured I would get it as it already was missing the headlight assy so it came off in about 2 mins. I found that it is about 1 inch short in height and about a 1/2 inch short in width.

John, it never ceases to amaze me the finite changes in details GM made with the J-Bodies!! Looks like many a designer and engineer were payed well throughout the J's 1st gen run. Of course, I think GM kinda came to their senses as the 2nd gen came along, and the 3rd gens are practically boring from lack of deferences.
I guess it was just a different world back in the 80's. Looks like you are figuring things out there. :-)
