Adding to auto collection I see.Let us know how it goes. And I am working on your 2nd door getting it packed up thurs!I have the box cut to size and going for more bubble wrap so I can get this done.Next will be a pallet to park them on and then know the approximate weight of the 2nd door plus weigh the pallet. So that said I can get a ship quote and get total together for cost of ALL to you to get these doors out of my garage and next to do on my agenda.
Betcha it's nice to have another Caddy at the residence!! :-) Looks like it has a lot of potential too.
I'm glad you decided to keep your second Vert and fix it up - I remember last year you wasn't quite sure which way to go with it.
Aren't you glad you didn't have to pay the MSRP for the Caddy back when it was new! The sticker was way, way beyond shock....mades me wonder how on earth they ever sold any of 'em!! :-O
.
Dam It! I got another car that I really cannot cut up. I really was thinking of morphing the brown Cav convert into a Cimarron vert, but I think I'll just store this one and fix it up. THE GOOD: The body is really good with the only rust at the bottom of the doors and it is minimal, the dents on the driver’s side are minimal, the interior is mint, the spare looks like it has never been used, the GM factory sunroof jacket has never been used, the jack looks like it was used once, the floors are dry, it has the rear sway bar, the rims look like they would clean up easily, the engine compartment is clean. THE BAD: Engine is skipping, climate control does not work, power mirrors do not work, power steering is disconnected, needs bumper end caps, odometer does not work, and yeah its a 2.8 so there is no room to work on it.
Perhaps you have the best of both worlds now, John!
Now, that you have the brown vert and a Caddy together, you can take your time comparing the 2 and see what is close for swapping and what isn't. That'll give you a chance to see what you'll really need. As time goes by, I'm sure you can find a suitable donor for your project. Then you get to morphing the brown Cav convert into a Cimarron vert, and you'll have the Caddy there for you to use as a template :-)
And when your though....OH MY, just think of the result you would have! You'd have your blue vert, then your morphed vert, and your stock Caddy all in a row!! That would be such a cool, cool picture, not to mention what they'd look like at a the local car show on a Saturday afternoon!!
Just an idea, one that would be suited only for a Lucky, Lucky devil like you!!!

Well to see some pics after talking with you last wk looks pretty sweet. On your hvac are those push in knobs?I know our hvac on the normal Js is electrical BUT has vacumm operating as well.I have a extra hvac assembly and the vac line runs out to the engine compartment.Idk about cimms too much. For the skip I would be checking timing first, but skip could just be a bad plug, plug wire, coil.or the latest break down item igntion control mod.Oh that is it.
Ok, was playing around with the Cimarron today and look what I found. The wires look new but the plugs look like crap. the one on the left was pretty bad and I just pushed on the ground electrode and it fell off. I pulled the other two on the front and they look pretty worn (normal wear). I didn't pull the back three but I will get a new set tomorrow and throw them in and keep my fingers crossed!
Now that broken plug electrode has lots of miles left on it.Just think that small metal piece is ground down to nothing inside the block now.Personally I would go buy some accel wires for a v8 and run some really good wires for under 30.00 that will last unlike the normal in store junk that are so lame on shielding.I run accel on my truck and great period.Auto zone, advance wire sets for 20-25 break down too quick for my taste so I went uptown on my stuff.Plus 8mm accel take the heat better and have longer boots over plugs you just have to cut to length and crimp your ends.Good luck john those plugs look yucky for sure.I think that should clear the skip to do racket.
What a nice find, and hopefully an easy fix to get her running again! Enjoy the lap of J-body luxury.
Think of it this way, reading like Old Testament from the Bible...
And GM beget the Cimmarron, the Cimmaron beget the Opel Omega, the Opel Omega beget the Cadillac Catera, and the Cadillac Catera beget the Cadillac CTS and it's spirited brother CTS-V.
GM knew where it was going, it just took a long time to get there
