that is detailed on the Z24 site? The swaps seem to be on gen 2+3, and I was wondering if the hood clearance is OK on 1st gens.

There is no structural difference between the 1st and second gen. Swap will work fine. The only differences in the 1st and 2nd gen is some sheet metal and a few minor other things. The 3500 I am swapping into my '85 is basically the same swap as the 3400 into 2nd gens, except a few electrical things I had to swap because my '85 iron head 2.8 was a distributor ignition and had the MAF sensor etc. So I had to swap wiring harness and a few more sensors, but as far as mounts and such, I follow the same protocol for the swap as the second gen.
Thanks for the input beech- good luck w/ the 3500 swap. Post pics for us on progress!
