http://s1088.photobucket.com/albums/i338/1987oldschoolmaz/2-16-2012/?action=view¤t=M4H00123.mp4 Ok here my 1st video ever of removal and install steps on the infamous exterior door window sweeps we ALL have falling apart and dire need of.It is like 8.30minutes so don't fall asleep and tried to be specific and I sure hope to those who do not know how to remove learn something as a result.I did several takes screwing up,and stuff but as said my first personal vid I shot myself and yeah the doors are for john masson in the vid and laugh alot at any mistakes etc I did.
I tried and was not able to view
Wonderful Video Ron!!
If a picture is worth a thousand words - well, by gosh a video ought to be at least worth a billion!! Found it VERY informative. I, in fact removed not only the inside door panel, but also the glass - out of ignorance - to remove my door sweep when I repaired it. Now I know better (thanks to you!!), will be getting one of those upholstery tools you got in the future.
If things go well, perhaps I can do something similar on the next repair - sweeps on my poor old Sunbird are toasty!!
Thanks for the Video - 3 CHEERS you tha MAN!!
.
I was not able to view video just like Paul. And I am dying to see it!
This is the Error I get.

Working on a problem with it,maybe PB and not me,bc linked worked fine last nite, previewed it and let me doodle with it.
Something is screwy bc I can see the vid when on pb logged in or not and the last link same as above kicking the no work.Let me see if it is my end or pb I say pb bc it was A OK last nite and did a preview.Working on maybe a alternative link and getting tired long day driving.Unless the cookies,or jbody is causing it,I doubt.Getting cranky so let me chill and ponder.
I had to use IE to watch it, just kept getting an error with Chrome. I downloaded it as well
. How come you didn't post it @ YouTube Ron?
That last post is working for me now Paul. Great vid- thanks very much for posting!
I put McGuires Tire Gel on my Z hatch sweeps several times a year, trying to preserve those puppies!
Some of the upper most edge where the sweeps meet the glass has some chunking and cracking but it's seems to have been stable since I bought the car 3 years ago. The car cover helps too.

Oh idk I just use pb mostly and did not want to create a account.I might throw it on there this wk when I have more time.I might do a part two shorter with one of my regular coupe doors and show actual removal.I just got super motivated to do a vid after I got the electric windows working and cleaned out the inside of those vert doors and thought(umm) video of this might be a good idea.So in short john masson will have less work cleaning out the interior door, and motors clean, greased tracks. Those doors stunk of mildew and great for purpose of explaining.
Thanks for the cleaning the doors. It will save me some time. I did get to see the vid and it is informative. Short of stripping the inside of the doors, does anyone have any suggestions on what to coat the inside of the doors with? Ron, your next vid should be on rebuilding the throttle body.
I can see it now - nice video!!!
Thanks paul, john. As for how to prep the doors let me think on it some.I have some ideas and since the insides of the doors are clean and no rust I am thinking just to recover with a thin layer of something just tired as dirt after 520 miles of driving in and out of snow today(oh brother the mess and dumb stuff peeps do in it).As for my next video may do one more for the doors just my coupe door to show the driver side and shorter in length and I do have a extra throttle body on my spare 2.0 liter engine so that will be later.I guess that is it for now.Just chilling out after a long stressfull day of snowtrucking.
If you'd like I could post it on my youtube channel for ya.
Thanks but,I may just start my account on there focused on our first gens and that would be my 1st vid, with a follow up part 2 with the coupe door going into some more detail on the driver side being I have coupe doors.John got me thinking on the throttle body rebuild, just have to make time to get the donor tbi cleaned and prepd before I shoot some on the whats, how and cost etc.Maybe this could push for some parts vendors to seriously make stuff focused on our stuff, like the sweeps I so want NEW.
Yep, new would be nice! It's just too bad the rubber didn't last as long as the chrome did . I went back for the junkyard Sunbird sweeps and they were gone along with the lower front valence that Keith wanted. They were the black painted ones, but I figured someone on here could use them
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=eTzuSF8Lph0 Ok how about part 2 on window sweeps via my now youtube page! I am super tired and finally got this second vid done and hope this clarifies some things versus the coupe door and convertible door. You will see the coupe door screw is not so friendly. So guys I will post vids of stuff as I have time to do on the Jbody stuff.
Good video!
WOW.... That interior door panel upholstery was DIRTY.
Yeah the upholestry is untouched right now.But heck it is inside my garage and it is fine dry.Long day driving and may take a day off extra next wk to go junking here in my town in hopes of finding more stuff.Soon enough I will focus some minimal time to clean my extra tbi to do a rebuild vid and just need to get some other duties caught up before my next installation how to vid. Thanks guys
Hey guys,
My Z24 hatch sweeps are starting to really 'chunk out'- pieces falling off.
Failing the discovery of a decent set from a donor car or someone's stash, I looked at the most often listed aftermarket part that is said to work on 1st gens- here is the link- see part MR260X 3/4 of the way down the page-
http://www.dannoenterprises.com/stickX11.htm
I also looks (many times) at Ron's great video. So in looking at this MR260X part-
1. Does not seem to have tabs for the screw hole at either end
2. No verticle tabs that fit into the door in the middle (see Ron's factory part in his vid)
3. Is it expected that the up angle as you near the mirror end will 'flex into shape' as you install the Danno part?
I'm not very mechanically inclined, and I am afraid if i remove the original parts and try to install the Danno parts and they do not work out, I will be really screwed as the original parts will probably take a beating in taking them off.
Comments and experience in working w/ these parts appreciated!

Ok a quick glance over and my take. This appear to be the seal that actually GOES on the door upholestry panel with the chrome 1/4 trim on top this seal is stapled to the door panel and seals the INSIDE of the glass (and only seals as if you look out sitting in the seat)I have a set of these that are solid with a with my spare back ups for the TRUE outside sweep.Granted what they are selling would probably fly but missing that chrome trim piece that is on top of the upholestry as it is stock.I have yet to venture junking bc the yards are well no inventory to choose from. The outside window sweeps are molded and ONE piece so trying to mod those aftermarket pieces like on JC whittney IDK (rolling my eyes hard) with out @#$% ing something up.I may just have to push this to a project of interest once I get one or two projects done here and see what I can learn and or find out.I have been working my a-- off lately getting things squared up on loose ends of to do's like painting my foundation(DONE) working on nephews car (almost) checked it over two wks ago cleaned inter to the letter and fixed some things.I have a brand new hood painted to install monday and wash/wax so it is ready for him to go to college.I could say more but you guys get the idea.I hope to take my spare TBI and clean and do a video to explain a few items once I get ahead of these got to do items.Almost there so I can just what the heck I WANT to and work on my own car for a change.J Mac leave your seals as they are bc the above item will not fly.Ok done with my book and 525 miles is kicking me.
