Are you French? "NO?" really means YES?
This is exaclty the car/condition/options I have been looking for. Although I would rather have a different color.
I've had cars painted for much more than 5K. Also have replaced engines, tires, brakes, It all adds up quick.
If people would add up "everthing" they've put into fixing an old car, J bodies included, most would be very suprised at how much they have into their car. And most time, they still have an old beater that someone tried to "fix up" And I'm not even considering all of the time it takes to get a car to this condiotion. And time isn't only the time spent physically working on the car either, try adding that up.

Iowa Pub is right, thats not that bad considering the great condition. That's the asking price and not what your going to pay for it. Let it sit on the lot a few weeks with winter coming and the price will become more negotiable.
I too can speak from experience that resorations can ad up fast and if rust is involved it just NEVER ends as was the case with my 68 Mustang and 71 Lemans (New England cars that started to bubble after a few years). I fell into it again with my j body convertible engine swap. Just swap the motor,
yea right, replaced the P.S. pump and rack, clutch kit (that started the whole process) all motor mounts, hoses, engine paint and primer, degreaser, oil 2 times, tranny fluid, coolant, vacuum hoses and some hard to reach sensors. Plus a ton of time! I do realize that in the restoration world my engine swap is chump change, but if you consider that I just put about $600.00 into a car that is worth MAYBE $2,500 It's a lot of money.

I think Ron meant NO ? or "No Question" ease up guys...

All kidding aside, it is pretty heavily optioned. I had never seen the turbo stickers on an 84, I thought they were an 85 thing. The shifter is different from mine. The silver is growing on me. The shine on the rims is fantastic!!! Looks it has an alarm like mine. It has the center arm rest too. I am looking for one of those.

I made the mistake of putting everything in my bird in a spreadsheet and adding it up. The #s for the 84 Bird and the 94 Camaro investment is closer than I ever thought it could be. $5000 and the ability to have a running, unique project sounds like a good deal to me.

This forum is a great place for advice and sharing a little knowledge that each one of has for the J cars. I guess we all know that these will never be million dollar auction cars, but we still love em anyway. I did notice the center armrest and now want one too. I agree on the sticker and the color hasn't been a favorite of mine since the 77 Monte Carlo I had in silver faded in 3 years.

John-

That is to funny. My Grandpa had a 77 Silver Monte and the paint went quick too.

Just a tip. You can find those center arm rests in the Olds, Buick and Caddy J-Bodies. I lucked out and found one the correct color that's in my old wagon out of a Cimmaron . You have to get the whole center console .

I checked some jpegs I have collected of 2nd gen cavaliers, and they have a completely different center console. Only 1st gens will have those center arm rests.
