Just picked up a 1984 Cavalier Convertible to use as a parts car for my 84 Conv. The price was right and it was 16 miles from my house. Someone swapped in a 1993 2.2L into it. The donor car has weak spark on center two plugs. It skips bad and if I disconnect the the center two plug wires there is no difference in the way it runs. Any tricks or do I need a new coil pack. Thanks, John
Donor car
Good car (almost all original)
Both cars look nice to me.
I have an ignition test wire that I use to diagnose issues around the coil and distributor. They are just a few bucks at ORielly.
It sounds like coil pack is faulty but spend the couple bucks and be sure
And you might want to replace the igntion module, cap, rotor button. It could put some strain on these being the coil is sucking at its job.It is up to you but,I would being no fire and these items might even be crapping out as well.
