Looking 00-02 2.4 twin cam swap
Tuesday, April 08, 2008 5:22 PM
I am looking for a parts car that has a good motor and trans or a complete parts swap for a 00-02 Cavalier with a 2.4 auto 4spd. I am looking for everything that is required for the swap. Would prefer to stay within delaware if possible.

isn't there a difference between the 99 and the 00 motor anyway?

i asked lenko and he said the 98-02 motors are all the same. i think the only difference is 1 sensor which can be swapped.

**edit**
this is what i got from lenko. i had my years wrong
Lenko wrote:A motor is a motor. The 99 wiring has to stay, but that's it. The 99-02 motor is the same, doesn't matter what it's out of (Cav, Sunfire, Alero, Malibu, Grand Am).

Get the engine, swap over whatever won't work. I know for sure... if you have a 99 you need the primary O2 sensor (on the manifold) to have a single wire... the 00-02 has two (a ground and a signal) but you can just swap the sensor from the blown engine (unless it's blown to pieces... not likely tho)

If you want to find out give him a ring and let me know. I'm torn right now between the swap or getting the car painted and the kit on.......

I still have all the parts for a eco swap, including a spare eco motor for building and all the TTR mounts needed .... I'll let you know Saturday if it goes up for sale or not

I have everything needed for the swap since I was going to do it on my cav. the only thing Im unsure of is the Motor Harness, I got one off a 02 LSS but cant remember if it was the eco or the 2.4l though. But thats the only thing really missing other than the rad and lower rad hose...

Heres all the parts I have for the swap
Return Fuel Line*New*
TB Cable*New*
2 Ecotec Motors one with 12k and one with 80k
1 4t40e
axles*New* Stole them from Cody
Upper, lower and auto trans mounts from ttr *Never been used*
whatever else PJ had listed in the 3rd gen swap forum except for the Rad and lower rad hose

Than I have a few parts to use if you plan on building up the trans

But as I said I find out Friday whats going to happen to my car hopefully. And then I'll have a giant parts list if its bad....

I live right by NYC but all of this stuff is in Hillsborough NJ.

I think that I am gonna hold out for the moment and use the money to get this kit painted and on. Get that going first then worry next year about the drive train on it.
