Hey guys. I'm in Albany, NY and I need an cheap working 2.2L OHV. Family member has a 96 Corsica with a 2.2 and a nasty rod knock. I'm trying to help her out as much as i can. So I need a cheap motor, PLEASE!
Willing to travel a little. I have a truck so i can pick up.
let me know what you guys have!
Under what price would you consider cheap? I can ask around, but the last time someone offered me a spare 2.2, it was no cheaper than the yard wanted. I ended up saving money by picking up a nasty old car with a running one in it for 130.
So you need the OLD style 2.2L? I have a 2200 in great condition.....of course I am in PA...
It may be a stretch but I need one for about $200, $250.
Damn, i just sold one out of my 99 WITH 4t40e and only 59k miles for $200 to t3h Jeffie in Jersey.
I'm only in Syracuse too.
Wish i coulda helped ya out.

You couldn't have helped him anyway. Your 99 had a 2200 in it, he's looking for the 2.2 OHV that came in 95-97's.
I might be able to help. Our 96' cavy just failed inspection and doesnt look like it can be fixed(rust). It has the 2.2OHV in it with about 93k miles on it. The only thing wrong with the engine is the lifter/valvetrain tap. My parents are still undecided on what to do with it.
BTW i live about 35-40 minutes south of binghamton.

Yes it could have. The whole PCM, and engine wiring harness went with it along with shift cables, shifter assembly, trans mount, Drive shafts.... Litterly unhooked the motor from the car and dropped it. Piled all the wiring on top, never unhooked anything and then loaded it in the back of a colorado.
As long as the 3 speed mount on the frame with the 4 bolts is the same ( which i am sure the frame is the same) it should have bolted right up, wired up and fired up no problems.
Little bastard got one hell of a deal.
I just needed it gone, so i told him $200 and it had to go by the following weekend. I needed the room.

i have the one out of my 97 with the 3speed trans 200 and come get it.
I'm pretty sure it's the 2.2l OHV. It's in a 96 Corsica.
