PennDOT screp up, should I get lawyer??

Well, on Monday I noticed i had been a victim of a hit and run sometime on Sunday while I was at work. Being like anyone else, I reported it to the state police. I go to the state police barracks and they photograph it. After they are done they tell me they need my license because it is suspended. Well my license should not be suspended, I did get a citation in NC for not wearing a seat belt, but I paid that citation off. I called the court in NC and they said they reported it to PA, but they still suspended my license. The fine was paid, so it should not have been suspended. Basically this left me stranded 15 miles from home so I had to walk. Thankfully I didn't have to work that day or I would have been late. What I'm getting at is I got stuck paying $200 for my negligence, shouldn't they have to pay for theirs, this did effect me in a major way and it could have been a lot worse. Just like me not wearing a seatbelt didn't effect anyone, though it could turn out to be worse. I had to pay for what could have happened, why should they be exempt. Yes, I admit I broke the law by not wearing my seatbelt, and it was not intentional, it was negligence, i forgot. So don't flame me for that. I'm sure PennDOT can't legally suspend someones license for a citation that was paid either, after they tell them pay it and it wont be suspended. I called them they did say they would fix it, so if anyone is wondering what the problem is, the problem is I had to walk 15 miles, was embarrassed as hell when the cops take my license for a hit and run on my car, and all this for PAYING my citation.

Yeah, usually you find out you are on a suspended license when you are on the side of the road...thats what happened to my sister. They should have been able to fix t on the spot by faxing a proof of payment right to the State Police though....

Yeah, but the thing is the police said, "well you have two options, you could drive away and i could cite you now, or you could leave the car here." I decided not to take the citation as I wasted enough time over the BS not going to court. I'm going to the D.L. Center here as soon as they open. Hopefully it gets taken care of. I mean c'mon those people make what like $30 an hour? They could at least do their jobs...

it's certainly not unheard of... happened to me. I got NO notice at all. I'm driving home one day, got pulled over cause my inspection sticker fell out of my window. Officer comes back and says "ma'am, are you aware your license is suspended?" I'm like "pardon me??" All over a ticket I got a year or two before, which I'd already paid and gone to court for. So, not only did I get a "fix it ticket" for my sticker (i had an appointment for the next day), I also got a fine for driving under suspension, and another year added onto the suspension.

PennDOT needs to get their crap together and start sending out suspension notices via CERTIFIED MAIL... that way there's no question as to whether or not you got your suspension notice. I tried calling PennDOT about it, all they said was "well.... we mailed it to you".

All I gotta say is I hope you have better luck than I did.

That was a few years ago btw... I have had my license back for a while now
