Anyone in the Central, PA area...?
Sunday, November 05, 2006 1:02 PM
Anyone? lol State College? Lewistown? Mifflintown? Anything in between? A friend of mine has a garage where we get most of our work done ourselves. He helps me out a lot with my car, but he's a mopar and doesn't really know a lot about GMs. Would be cool to know someone else in the area who likes to work on his/her j-body themselves. He does really great paint jobs, too, but mostly in the spring and summer when it's warmer. Kinda cold for painting at the moment, lol... It would be nice to know someone around the area who knew a little more about j-bodies than we do and wanted to hang out with us at the garage. Would be a big help to us, and he has tons of tools and equipment . He doesn't drive a J though... Dodge Ram and a Duster. Like I said he's a Mopar guy. You have no idea how many times I had to listen to him saying "F^$%in GM!!" when we're working on my car... lol. Although I didn't complain much when fixing the rear end of his truck, it was more of a pain than anything I've had to do to mine car, lol. Only thing that was good about the truck was I could set a chair under it and work on it, lol.
Would also be nice to be able to go to a meet sometime too. Only prob is I work in New York City on weekends in Manhattan. I don't work weekdays though.

LOL I live in Lewistown. I'm sure you've been through there a few times. I just drove past Mifflintown about half an hour ago on my way back home from New York City. I'm moved to Lewistown from Manhattan about 5 or 6 years ago. Nice Cav by the way.

That would be cool. Me and my friend usually hang out at his garage in Burnham. We don't go there much during the winter, because his garage isn't exactly heated and it gets friggin cold there, but soon as everything starts thawing out from winter we're usually up there 2 or 3 times a week doing something even if it's just riding 4 wheelers around on the farm behind the house. Brad, you ever go to the car shows in Lewistown? During the summer they have one in the town square almost every Friday night. This year kinda sucked though. They started late and didn't have as many. Would be cool to actually have meets around these areas when it starts getting warmer. By that time too my wedding will be over ( I can't wait it's super expensive... Sucks... ) and I can start putting my money to the car again. I'm planning to get a lot more done this coming year than I got done this year. I work weekends but I would def plan time off for a meet in the Spring and Summer. There are crap loads of Js around these areas. Would be cool to get more into the scene.

I've been around for 2years now, but I've never been able to attend any meets because of my weekend job in New York City. I could of taken off a weekend here of there, but my car was pretty much bone stock back then until this past summer when I started to get a few things done. I still consider it pretty stock compared to the work I see you guys doing. You guys do some sick work on here. I laugh all the time because I surf these forums every weekend when I'm at work trying to learn more from the info you guys put up on here, and then someone will walk by and be like "Oh @!#$ that car's hot!! What is that?" You should see their faces when I tell them it's a cavalier, lol. It's like they don't believe me, lol. I just can't wait until next spring once my wedding is done and over with in May and I can start spending my money again, lol. I buy little things here and there still, but if it wasn't for the wedding I would prob be getting my suspension completely redone and dropped. I love my car but I can't stand the body roll... Those are definitely on ly list for when the warmer seasons come around again. I'm also looking to get a nice set of wheels and tires in the spring. Another thing is if any of you don't have access to a lot of tools or if you have painting experience but nowhere to do it, I can always talk to my friend about it. He's a really cool guy, and doesn't mind helping people out as long as their willing to put their back into it as well and also help him with stuff around the garage too. It's always cool to have an extra hand around to help out. He doesn't have a business or anything. He just works out of his own garage. He's has pretty much everything except a floor lift which would be really nice to have but he doesn't have the money for that at the moment. Me and my fiancee are selling both of our houses and buying one together hopefully by next year. I've already got my house up for sale in Lewistown. One of the things I'm going to have put in right away is a floor lift with some of the extra I make from selling my place. Would definitely make some jobs alot easier.

Most definitely. Same for me. By the time Spring rolls in my wedding will be over with, too, so I can then start spenind money and taking my PTO again. Until then I can't do much to my car except for little projects here and there, and I need to save my PTO time for the honeymoon. After that I'm free to do whatever I want again, lol... I'll definitely come out for a meet come spring.
