So heres the skinny. My friend is driving home from my townhome at Ft. Ritchie, on his way back home he gets rear ended and spun into a ditch by a line painter at aprox 9:10pm on the 17th of this month. Cops show up at the scene talk to my friend and the WITNESS of the accident who confirms there was a line painting vehicle behind him and it kept on driving even tho they weren't sure if contact was made.

So the insurance adjuster comes and looks at the car, calls the police to look up the info.

The police only filed a "appearence" no note of the witness, the state of the accident, notes on what happened etc...

End Result, he's being found at fault because they don't have proof of another vehicle or the witness. a $1000.00 deductable and a hike in insurance.

Lesson: Don't let the cops push you around at an accident, get all the information you can despite what they may collect, because they may not do their fricken job because there in too much of a rush to be elsewhere.

I've never had a problem with cops until now, there more than happy to find you at fault and give you a ticket but when it comes to protecting you as a citizen in this instance the cops could care less.

there are good cops and bad cops in each station. ones who do their work right and then those who dont care or make rookie mistakes.


lesson learned though, always collect your own info, keep a disposable in the car for taking pics, or even a cam phone on your cell.


cops, like judges, and even presidents, all wear badges and robes, but in reality they are still human.

Its ok. there was traffic at a speed trap this summer. I came to a stop (traffic in front of me did too) and then I got re-ended. Cops saw everything but never filed report like they said they would...
