i got pulled over today for my window tint .the cop said new york state is cracking down on tint now cause there is to many illegal tint out there. so he took out his tint thing idk what it is and it said it was 16% when my windows are 35% ?? he also said that i cant have my lil windows in the back tinted he said my car would be under a sedan and i cant have them tinted either . i have a coupe cav makes no sense i under stand my front windows i knew about them when i got them done but no one around the part of new york where i live ducthess county was geting ticket for it . i got let off with a warning i dont want to take them off i love how it looks and that the sun doesnt bake me when im driving.
sounds like you should educate yourself on New York state laws regarding vechicle modification.

I got pulled over with get this....Less than 1% visible through my front windows. I got a warning. To this day, its still on my old s-10.
If i get nailed and get a fix it ticket than off it comes. Otherwise ill leave it on for now. If you dont want to be harrased take it off..
Also windows are tinted from the factory sometimes..
So that adds on to aftermarket tint, which is why mine was below 1%
And "But no one else gets a ticket for it" is not a viable excuse
there is no problem im was just saying no one in my area was geting pulled over so im saying in my head what is the chance of me geting pulled over .what i dont understand is why would my car be under sedan i cant have those lil windows in the back tinted ?? i see suv and small suv 4 doors have there 2 door tinted on the dealership lot . i dont get it

And thats something you would have to ask a judge. Be nice about it though. If he feels your being cocky, then he will come down on you even harder
i didnt think u were being an ass . i thought u miss understood what i was saying i got off with a warning .it sucks i dont want to take it off i like it .idk maybe ill just go with 70 % idk how dark that looks is it dark at all ?

Dude, just leave it for now. If you get a fix it ticket, then take it off. Hell its actually cheaper to pay a fix it ticket than to waste the tint job.
i live in dutchess, the 1st day i had my cav on the road i got pulled over by a statie for exhuats and tint, she gave me a loud muffler ticket and warned me about mytint, i took the tint off my front windows and havent been bothered since even after ive been pulled over by another statie and sheriff, and if u got pulled over in wappingers, wapp cops can be pricks, so just take it off the front windows or get less on the front and you hsould be fine
One of my co-workers got nailed last night. But mostly because he was parked in a no parking zone.
i got nailed for mine about 2 weeks ago. with my windows DOWN. @!#$ couldnt even see it...hope he enjoy's my attorney that ive hired.

nys law says 70% on the front windows back 3 windows hell you could spray paint em black as long as you got your side mirrors but i wouldent get to worried about it n 35% isn't all that dark u can still see throught it im gettin mine done 35% all around n just tell the cop next time u get pulled over that it came stock n the car was from fla or sumthin lol darker tint laws down there lol my buddy got pulled over a couple times for his tint but it dosent take pts on your license just get a fine u gotta pay but if it becomes too much of a prob id go with a lighter tint

on my whole car execpt where i had my front driver and pass windows 20% and i got pulled over in certain towns. It basically gives a cop an excuse to pull u over if ur driving like a dick.i took my front tints off to avoid the hassel personally.

Correction
NYS law says 70% on the front widows and the rear side windows.
The only window you may put any tint on, is the back window, and that just changed. It used to be only commerical vehicals,(vans and Fullzise pickup trucks) and only recently was is changed to allow all automobiles unlimted tint on the rear.
When the state requires 70% 35% is alot darker.
And telling them its a Florida car, unless its registered in florida, will not get you out of ticket...
