i say we just lock all the for sale post anyway. we have classifieds for a reason. at this point we should just stop locking all repeat threads too that come up in forums. i mean if you tell those people to search, why cant these people look in the classifieds?

Re: Forum name change
Friday, July 07, 2006 8:39 AM
No offense, but you have use this forum for for sale adverstising too Terry.

Re: Forum name change
Friday, July 07, 2006 8:56 AM
Once Kim, once. Some of these people place add after add after add and if it gets locked they re-word it and place it agian. Seriously look on the 1st page in NE and more then half the posts are "FS" posts.

Its getting silly.

i think whining about a memorial for someone you dont even know for months in your sig is nuts also, but i dont start posts about it

Re: Forum name change

i still agree that this selling @!#$ is out of hand. we have the classfieds for a reason. people are too lazy to just look through the classfieds to find what they want, just like people are too lazy to search for answers and need everything handed to them. this is the same thing. lets put all the fs things in this forum so i dont have to search through threads. i say we lock all the fs threads until dave re-does the classfieds where its broken up into regions

Re: Forum name change
Friday, July 07, 2006 9:29 AM
and just to clarify......my previous post wasnt to start a flame war here. it was meant as we all have our own opinions. but theres no need to post about something that seems to be debated in this forum once a month

we need those regional classifieds to cure it.
you guys obviously dont sell stuff in the NE forum, but its soo much easier to unload stuff to people close to your area then to have 1000 emails from the classifieds with no replies. it gets annoying. and alot of stuff like body kits, hoods, rims, etc, those are hard to ship. i had to pay over $200 to ship a hood out, and ended up losing money. thats not fun either

Re: Forum name change

Now a regional FS forum is a great idea! Seriously I would go for that in a second!

Yes a car I sold a car how could I ship a car ? Do you think someone in Iowa would want to pay shipping on a
$300.00 car ? or how could I install springs for someone from accross the country ? Don't be silly Kim I'm talking about these little things that can be shipped its just people are too lazy to do it.

And I did look at the other forums and no they are not like this one.

And Easy I have that in my sig because Dave is a bold faced liar thats why. He said he would do something he failed to do it that makes him a lyer. But thanks for asking And no I didn't take it the wrong way its all good man.

if you ever had a for sale post in the NE forum, which you did, (a couple i believe) that makes you a total and complete hypocrite to bitch about them now or in the future.

I call it lazyness that you guys cant scroll over the FS posts and look for a post you want, cry about us looking in a totally different forum through 100's of ads trying to find somebody from our area and then really risking buying from that person, you guys cant even skip over FS posts in the same forum.....thats lazyness.

Re: Forum name change
Friday, July 07, 2006 10:44 AM
A lot of us use the forums to sell things because selling them in the classifieds is just impossible.

i placed over 20 items for sale here, and the same in the classifieds....all 20 sold to ppl who saw it and pm'd me from the NE forums. its just much easier to find someone local, than to browse through all the things u want in the classifieds to find a (hood or something ) u want and its in california. I sold all my parts here, it really helped me out and all the ppl who bought my stuff. I'm sure they'd back me up 2. Eazy, JuniorJ, Tom S, Agent Omega, CRJ...on and on and on.

If that were the case it wouldn't be a problem.

However, once again it has become a situation where you're not skipping an occasional for sale post to get to a real post. You're now skipping PAGES of for sale posts to get to the real posts.

So here's the deal. The problem WILL be brought under control again, but I want suggestions on how to do it. A regional classifieds forum won't happen. That's been made clear for some time. Regional listings in the classifieds will be coming soon, once Dave gets the kinks worked out of it and has time to test it. In the interim this forum BADLY needs to be cleaned up.

So post your suggestions here. Don't bother posting "leave it alone", "we like it this way", "it's our forum" or anything similar. Those answers are no longer an option, because the system is out of control and being blatantly abused again. The other extreme is that for sale ads will be eliminated from this forum altogether and we can wait until Dave finishes the classified updates.

A middle ground option is that if you're not premium you can list one item in one post, just like the classified section. Another solution is to delete posts where people list every little part they have for sale, then add one hood or set of wheels or something so it's "legal". Or maybe a time limit. Let's face it...with the level of activity in this forum if you don't sell a part or have a GOOD lead on selling it in two weeks or so it's just not going to happen.

So let's hear it. What do YOU think we should do?

Re: Forum name change

Zack, Not crying man but when I clicked here today I saw 14 out of 28 threads were "FOR SALE" threads. Exactly half, then I went to the other forums and saw only 2 or 3 maybe 5 was the most I counted but it was far less then here. The fact is that the "FOR SALE" threads equal the regular threads in this region only and in my opinion its getting silly again. I could care less if this is what this forum turns into I was merely stating a fact followed by my opinion on it. Yes I can scroll down, No I don't mind but thanks for your concern.

Big stuff I can see a reason for putting here, like a car, or wheels, or huge systems, but for the love of God shifter knobs and the like ! Come on !

Jimmy, Like I just said big stuff is understandable but little things are going too far. Give an inch, they want a mile.

With the saint memorial. If he did it for one person he would have to do it for every single person that has passed away be it at war or in an accident and that would be impossible to do or upkeep. Don't know the guy. I'm Glad he served our Country. Wish he wouldn't have made the ultimate sacrafic for our country and the ppl of Iraq.

As for the classifieds I search both the NE region for parts but I'm also do search via Classifieds. But it is nicer to be able to have someone in your area either come get the part or meet up or you drive to them to get the parts. Rather than dealing with shipping and most ppl don't want to pay the shipping for items.

Is there anyway to attach a time limit to a post so it would automatically be deleted? After 2 or 4 weeks or even some sorta track that tracked activity up to a period and if no new ppl post about it then it got deleted?? So it isn't consuming mods time tracking and retracking ads?

with which i partly agree, but at the same time, the FS posts are the only ones with any real attraction. i see a "normal" post answered to by 3 people, 2 of which have some OT sarcastic remark usually and then they sit there. anyone notice when there were no FS threads back when this all started. there was close to zero traffic in the forum. alot of people come here just for the FS threads, not to read about a cav sighting in some small town of 10 people.

just my $0.02

Re: Forum name change

I think allow the post to be up for 1 or 2 weeks, if it hasent sold or you havent found a potential buyer its not going to get sold anyway..

Re: Forum name change
Friday, July 07, 2006 11:21 AM
How about making the title of the thread in red for "For Sale" posts ? That way they would stand out better and make navigating thru it easier.

Spence, as for Saints memorial hes the member of this org thats died in the war and almost everyone agreed a memorial would be a nice thing to do. Dave agreed and sent me all of the submissions on the topic and I spent over a week getting it all together and sending it back to him at which time Dave promptly "forgot" all about Saint.
Where I come from when a man says something his word means something I can see Dave does not subscribe to this idea.

Honestly there is no point in anyone bitching. It's already being taken care of. My best suggestion is if anyone has @!#$ to sell, do it on ebay, cause once they rip the FS ads from NE all together good luck getting people to buy your stuff easier.

That's exactly the point I'm trying to make. I remember, as I'm sure many other members do, when the Northeast forum was VERY active, without the clutter of the current "flea market". Once the place started getting overrun with for sale threads, the regulars stopped posting here and shifted to off-topic or elsewhere.

So it's not that getting rid of the for sale threads will kill the activity in the forum. It's the other way around. The presence of the for sale threads is what killed the activity in this forum to begin with and to get it back we have to start somewhere.
